I only use blue and never had an issue. You want them to be removable in the case you do want to service them down the road.

I've ran Traxxas, I've ran Junfac, I've ran almost every upgrade shaft that looked worth it's weight in scrap.

MIP is the only option.

Plastic driveshafts are for RTR's.

Rebuilds aren't required if they are built right, but I do tend to disassemble, clean, and lube mine from time to time. I'm more than a bit OCD about maintenance on my rigs. The one I rebuilt on the trail was one that I picked up used. The grub screw fell out. I should have checked that it was assembled with lock tite. It wasn't...

Note the overwhelming chant for MIP. While that may annoy some, there is a durn good reason for it. Y'all know that I won't hesitate to challenge popular opinion when the situation warrants it. This isn't one of those situations. If you're building a serious rig, MIP is the shaft to put the power to the pinions. PERIOD.

MIPS. I use blue loctite when I assemble them. I also put shrink wrap over the pins as a failsafe. The drive shafts are quite literally the only thing I NEVER again have to worry about for the life of the rig. If that isn't worth $50 I don't know what is.

I have never spent more than $40 on a set of MIP's.

These go right on your Wraith and with the Traxxas set pins you have a forever strong setup.

$36.99

That's why I asked Evan to explain how the traxxas shafts are so much cheaper. I can't figure it out. I haven't looked for a while but I thought mip sets were less than $40 shipped on eBay.

Forget the loctite or don't line up the flat on the crosspin with the set screw in the barrel... To name a couple.

Those are the ax10 mip shafts. They use set screws instead of set pins to hold the yoke onto the trans output/pinion shaft since the old ax10 didn't have holes in the shafts. The wraith has holes in the shafts so you need traxxas part# 5189 to make the ax10 mips work and avoid buying the more expensive wraith specific mip shafts. The pack of 4 pins is about $5 shipped on ebay.

Edit: I guess I should say you don't "need" the traxxas pins but they maximize the potential of the setup.

5mm traxxas yokes. Needed to build two drive lines
Traxxas 5MM HD - Maxx Drive Shaft Yokes

Traxxas Maxx Drive Shafts - Heavy Duty

No adapters needed. These don't bolt on though without mods.

These aren't parts to combine with a wraith subscribing to Harley guide or VP menu these are for the for it your silver loom to save about 20 bucks on set of heavy duty shafts

And to be clear Harley just said the traxxas shaft is worth its weight in scrap. If they weren't hecwouldnt have tried them.

Like I've said before traxxas shafts aren't for every one. But are a option that should be known about

Here's my rear end with a revo drive line. This right here is about as heavy duty as it gets and doesn't break the 10 dollar budget

This shaft is far from bolt on

I had a nitro revo for awhile and these shafts survived quite a few full throttle cartwheels down aspault road very tuff part. I've got alot of faith in them. Maybe that faith is miss placed 6s power seems to think otherwise

Evan, sorry I wasn't more clear. I was referring to revo shafts. While the tmaxx shafts are stronger than wb8s I can't really call them HD. I used to waste them with 3s brushed power. I haven't tried revos so I can only assume they are stronger.

Tmax is what I have on the front. Its proving long lasting.

I haven't been able to fit a revo shaft on the front.

I run my wraith as crawler and high speed sand rig on 6s power with a 1;8 scale motor

Hey ... I am a couple years late to to Wraith party, but somehow I choose just recently a Spawn to be my first RC

Last post in here was 2013 and it seems like that the
"MIP Spline CVD™ Center Drive Kit, Axial Wraith #11116 are discontinued.

The MIP Shafts that Harley uses in his Wraith Budget Build
"MIP C-Drive Spline CVD™ Kit, Axial AX10 (2) #08101"
are also discontinued.

What is the 2019 way to upgrade my drive shafts?

I saw on AMain Hobbies a SSD version:
https://www.amainhobbies.com/ssd-rc-...d00077/p498760

Or may be the "RC4WD Z-S0362 Axial Wraith (106mm-140mm) 5mm Hole ...

What do you think?

Thanks for your help.
Greetings from Hamburg

go to mips web site they used to have the new part numbers listed on the page for the old part if not they would know what one to use there basicly the same shafts for the scx10 long wheel base model and you can mix and match there shafts also cause each part is available by its self

ive been having good luck with a chineese brand called gds racing not as beefy as mips but i havent broken one yet they have the nice.splines but the pins are just held in by a thin metal ring i solder the ring on so the pins cant come out and they work vary good but mips are probably still the strongest shafts

I like the SSD shafts, they are very strong and a little lighter than the MIP., but the MIP’s are probably still hands down the best!
