which axles gears are the best for this roc 412 3100kv set up? i really dont want a over/under drive. but would i be better off running under drives in both or over drives in both axles? impretty sure ill be running 56-60 spur gear and 12-15 pinion. i dont have the extra cash for the supershafty top shaft so i wont be going to 32 pitch gearing yet.

Stock axle gearing in both, get a 32p 56t duratrax spur and run a 12 pinion

thanks cableman, i did not know the duratrax spur gear would work. i was just thinking the hd gears in the diffs would be stronger as i have read a few guys having issues in there rear diffs?

I run MMP ROC 412 3100 on 48p metal gears 80:20, bomb proof trans, junfac carbon steel shafts, and under drive HD gears. I went through 3 lockers in one week, and they were upgraded lockers. The thing is a monster.

| Re: Holy H*ll!! Roc 412 I would get the hd r&p gears in stock ratio! The 412 will rip things apart. I just had the stock metal top gear let go and it took out the rrp idler and a scuff on the hr bottom gear! 48p plastic spur i would not run, and my duratrax one worked well with stock slipper while i used it.

1800kv seems to be about the sweet spot for good speed and good crawling huh? On 2s it probably is real nice and on 3s is pretty fast.

I ran my 3100 on 3s with the Duratrax 32p 60t spur with the stock slipper cranked down and I could still get it to slip on pavement. Only thing left stock on the trans now is the gear cover, outputs, and bearings. Once the outputs are worn enough, I'm ordering the solid HR bottom gear since I seem to like their products thus far.

| Re: Holy H*ll!! Roc 412 I would think the 1800kv would be way slow. Like I said i'm running the 3100 on 2s with a 5:1 ratio and it's great crawling and great speed. Go for the 3100kv.

im running the 2100 kv and voltage lots of voltage options. 3 cell puts it in the rock bouncer class 4 cells is in foffer class and 5 and 6s in the lets break shit and have fun class. but im limeted to a 56 14 gear combo and was eyeing the 1800-1900 4 pole motors. on 2s these would rock as crawlers and possibley run with high dollar tekin systems. ran my 2100 kv 4 pole sensorless motor with a tekin brushed powerd wraith the guy was amazed that i could follow hime everywhere. at the same i realized i freaking smooth those brushed motors realy are. ive crawled with quite a few poeple and everyones impresed with the crawlability and instant throttlerespones on 2 cell. i normaly dont crawl on 3 s because i just done need the power and but in rock bouncer or faster situation id run it for sure. Went out on another run today, only about 20 min but I'm still impressed. This time I was climbing a lot of hill climbs I could not have make it up prior to this set up. After reading what everyone sad it seems like most run on 3s. Within the next week or so I'll be purchasing 2 3s lipos. I really don't need the extra power buttttttttt it would be nice to be able to go that little bit faster.
