scaleready wraith

i picked up this chassis in the bst awhile back from letsgojeep.

i dig this rig. scaleready does damn good work.

gcm steel metalhead pumkins with gripfab steel wraith tubes and mounts, gripfab links, supershafty bproof trans, vp stuff, 3300pro4 with a mmp on 2200 3s, hitec 7990, bec, 3racing winch in 3s with heyok relay controller, other stuff.

axles mocked up with zip ties.

i made a mistake and instead of tacking the mounts on and brazing the rest, i got brave and tried to just do it all with my mig, and they ended up fugly... :(
ill maybe take the time later to grind the welds down flush and braze the gaps. maybe...
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/07/13/yzyqy4ep.jpg

brazed a tamiya 3sp shackle for the axle phb mount. everything stuffs, artics, and steers with each other pretty damn good.

all linked up.

gonna get some lockedup wheels, iroks, other stuff. think ill leave it raw steel and just spray the thing down with wd40 every once in awhile.

Lookin' good!

Yeah, those link mounts will clean up good someday when you have time to make em' pretty. ain't no thang. ;-)

Also.. I just noticed the way you have your center link mounts.. I think I originally intended to have them more forward facing and on the top of the axle judging by how the cutout looks for where the rod end mounts. And, you have it on the front of the axle and more vertical.

I mean, It seems to be working for you so that's good. There is no right or wrong when dealing with custom stuff I guess. If you have any problems with the rod ends hitting that mount.. you might just want to grind/file down the front of that little counter bore deal. ya know?

killer rig!

If it was me I would rig those welder to finish them off,it will leave you with a much cleaner weld that is stronger with less clean up.

badhoopty 07-12-2013 11:29 PM

it would be nothing but time to grind the welds back down and braze around the mounts with harris. im definitely confident in my dremeling and brazing that i can get them to look alot prettier.

but really, i wish i had done them differently but im not too worried about it. ;)

badhoopty 07-12-2013 11:31 PM

rick i dont have any issues with the center mounts as they are, they look right at home flopped around. ;)

(it kept the mount all on the backside and looked cleaner imo)

it looks like spray clear.
search my username and the word conformal or coating. i know ive posted pics of a servo board or something with and without.

ive only used the techspray but am wanting to try the brush on stuff.

i fill plugs and connectors with dielectric grease before spraying and try to tape off other things like receiver pins and heatsinks best i can.

Looking good Jason... The chassis is sweet and I like how your putting your own touches on it, like the cross bar beneath the windshield. You do good work, this thing will be one of the best wraiths on the site for sure! "thumbsup"

im literally banging it together for the rc4wd august thing... when thats over i'll take the proper time and add my own little touches to the thing. really want to use a transfer case and maybe a rear mounted motor. that would free up a ton of room on the skid to mount elecs and maybe even a lipo down there.

awesome rig. i cant say enough how damn good that scaleready dude is.

yeah, he does great work... when he started, I had tried to get in line for him to build me a truggy but he was already booked for 6 months.

Jason, what welder do you use to tack parts together?

110 lincoln mig w/no shielding gas.

the welds arent really as bad as they look in the pics. i could paint them and they would basically dissappear.

this rig is a total keeper...

i got a rule that once i build a rig, it stays built. no 'borrowing' parts off old rigs or shelf queens for another build. "thumbsup"
