| Prolines for a G6 setup???
Can someone give me a starting point for oil and springs for a wraith setup for G6 type events. I've got some prolines with the rebuild kit and a spring kit, but I'm not familiar with these shocks, so wanted some of you to chime in that have and use these shocks.

I run 30wt with stock springs. Seems to work good.

It depends on how you drive the rig and how much it weighs. If you want a fast reacting shock for soaking up bumps use a lighter spring and a lighter oil weight. If you want the suspension to react slower but still flex, use a lighter spring and heavier shock oil. There are many combinations just start somewhere and adjust from there. SCX springs fit the Proline shocks too. |

Rule of thump was always mach springs to oil Fast springs fast oil kinda deal. I do kinda like the light springs with heavier oil idea. To me I'd think this would help stabslize high speeds but still move for slow speeds. Could get into high and slower speed valveing . Do the pro lines have optional valves you could test |

I think I will start with 30wt all around, I will wait on my spring selection until I get an idea on final weight, but I'm going to try the double spring setup, never used that before.

I always match oil with springs. We always said in the 1:1 world that a damper was critically damped when the oil would control the spring without occilating. Too light of an oil and it bounces, to heavy of an oil and it'll "pack" where the damping prevents the shock from returning to it's resting position under higher speed (WOT) driving before you hit another bump, thus causing the truck to get lower and lower as you drive. That's really probably not an issue for most people on here unless you're building a pretty serious basher. I have not seen any tuning pistons for the proline shocks. You're left with just the oil and the 2 hole pistons it came with. I'm sure there are other random ones on the market that will fit. I personally haven't tried. FWIW, I ran proline blue main springs and green preload springs on all 4 corners with 30wt oil and was very happy with the results. This was with a 550 size motor and two 2100mah 3s batteries on an otherwise stock wraith. It was heavy for an all "stock" wraith but not nearly as much as someone with a metal cage. | |
