I almost forgot... Jake (Motoworx Racing) sent me some hubs too. He changed the design a bit so that they use locking nuts, rather than just having a machined hole. I was using locktite before, but I think this is a better route to go. I also just sent him an email about anodizing and remachining the hubs. Hopefully he bites and we can get them anodized and remachined. I think they'd look much more scale that way. If not, I'll just paint the ones I have.

Here's the pictures I took for Jake today. This set will be the ones I am using. That is, unless we decide to anodize and remachine them. (Fingers Crossed!!!)

Damn! I thought I was done spending for a while. These are SWEET!
Luckily for me motoworx site is blocked by DoD, DA, or USACE IT.

I don't see these new hubs with locking nuts on your site. Instead, "These are also now recessed on the bottom surface to accept a lock washer to keep the hubs from loosening"

I suppose it's a good thing I'm not going to use Wraith seats. ;)

It is going to be snug though.

talk about attention to detail. Love it. Keep up the great work and mainly the attention to detail.. since that is what pays off in the end. in my mind.

Thanks. Clay and I spent a great deal of time collaborating on the design and paint scheme. He's great to work with. This will be a top, top, top shelf build to be sure. Given the amount of free time I have, it won't be a quick build though. Oh well... It is what it is.

I can't wait to see this thing in person. I should have some changes made to the Nuclear Cow by the time Erin is ready for a trail run.

Ha! You're assuming she'll be ready soon. I don't even have the axles yet! Or the electronics.... She has a LOOOOOONNNNG ways to go yet.

It was built with Wraith seats, plenty of room in front and head room.

Thanks y'all. I expect that the rest of the build will compliment the chassis.

Hey guys. I've been reinvesting every penny I make with The Scale Addict into inventory for The Scale Addict. I don't have any money specifically set aside to spend on this build, per say, so I am robbing my inventory to make it happen. I've had a set of SCX10 Curries sitting on my shelf for months. Rather than allowing them to collect any more dust, I'm going to use them. I've already replaced all of the screws on the differential cover with some Locked Up RC scale hardware (black hardware on the Grey axle housings - it looks pretty darn good). Also, Ive decided that I'm going to build it with 1.9's, rather than 2.2's. The more I look at it, the more I'm settled with that idea. I have a couple of Locked Up RC's scale chassis hardware kits en route. I can't say that I won't break one open for this build. Though, I may have to paint them black if I do.

I have quite a few tires on order for the store to choose from. Here's the list of what I'm down to decision wise:
  • Pit Bull Mad Beast (4.65 OD)
  • RC4WD Compass (4.75 OD)
  • RC4WD Gladiator (4.57 OD)

Pit Bull Mad Beast
Specifications:
- 4.65 OD
- 1.52 OW
- 1.91 TW
- .125 TD

RC4WD Compass
Specifications:
- Advanced X2 SS Compound (Super Soft & Super Sticky)
- Reinforced Sidewall
- OD: 4.75in / 120mm
- Width: 1.74in / 44.4mm
- Inner Diameter: 1.88in / 47.8mm
- Each Tire Weight: 3.1oz / 89g

RC4WD Gladiator
Specifications:
- Advanced X2 SS Compound (Super Soft & Super Sticky)
- Outer Diameter:4.57in / 115.7mm
- Width:1.64in / 42mm
- Inner Diameter:1.8in / 45.8mm
- Each tire weight:2.9oz / 83g

Although I am a huge Pit Bull fan, as of now I'm leaning toward the RC4WD Compass. I like the look, and the X2 SS Compound is pretty darn nice. I did order myself some CI foams to go with whatever tire I decide to go with. CI foams are the only foams I'll roll on. I waited longer than most to try them, and I can honestly say that was a mistake.

As for the axles, the front had a grip fab locker in it, which I replaced with a FI spool that I robbed out of Fiona's axle (since she's in pieces). It also had teh VP VVD's. For gearing, I'll be using underdrive (43/13) Axial HD Hardened Gears in both the front and the rear. I don't have rear axles yet, but I'm hoping to get my hands on a set of Ti axles from Bob when the time comes. There's no rush on that, since I have to deal with links first. I'm wanting to shorten the natural wheel base a bit so that the tires are closer to center under the wheel wells. That's going to require custom links, which will (of course) be coming from my good friend Shon (R2j).

I did run into one problem with the chassis. I can't blame Clay though, since I didn't bother to mention that I'd be running the Hitec 7990. The 7990 is about a sixteenth of an inch wider than the 7950. I'll need to do some grinding on the frame to make it work. I'll be sure to be VERY careful as I do so.

In summation, there's a lot to do yet...

I'll get some pictures up of the front axle with the scale hardware tonight. The rear axle is still in the bag, and I've got quite a bit of work to do on a friends web site tonight, so I won't likely have that together tonight, or this week for that matter.

I almost forgot.... I'm going to be using Motoworx's new 1.9 6 Spoke SLW wheels with either 225 or 350 VP SLW hubs.
