Default Allanons wraith upgrade

Well, I was going to sell or trade this thing, as I really didn't use it much. That all changed when my new slash velineon motor exploded internally. I decided not to part with the wraith and go ahead and upgrade it.

I will be moving next year and will have alot more ground where I can build my own tracks, one for short course/desert trucks and one for crawling/rock racing.

I am doing the trans upgrade and motor upgrade first and then see where I stand money wise. Also ordered the lights for the front and rear.

I got the trans parts from super shafty and the motor from holmes hobbies.

got Robinson Racing 32P Slipper Kit Steel Slipper(56T), WRAITH & AX-10 BEEFY Top Shaft, the Hardened steel gear set for the AX10 and the One-Piece Diff Locker for the Axial Wraith

I had to buy the Hardened Gear set to get the hardened gear for the upper shaft and the hardened idler gear, so I will have a hardened diff gear that I cant use on the one piece design I got from them..but that's ok...I will have a use for it some day!

The motor I got from Holmes Hobbies was the budget friendly TorqueMaster Sport 540 27T. It should be fine for now and I can always upgrade that easily in the future.

here are a few pics to get started with.

The motor was shipped out today so I will post more when stuff arrives

Ditch the 1 piece and buy the SS 6mm outputs and use the HR hardened center gear on them, or even the stock outputs are better. That 1 piece unit is known for failure.

Run it till it breaks, I heard the new ones are better made than the early ones, that is the one piece out puts, you will want to up grade the servo horn and steering links soon, then the lower links on the suspension at least, if not uppers also, my lowers would bend when putting any torque to them.

well I also finished my hood mod, I used a couple clamps from my exo terra parts bag and cut down the sides to make the entire front end lift up. worked out very nice, I put in a couple screws to hold the sides in as well.

I am wondering what to upgrade next? I was thinking about converting it to 4 wheel steering but havent made up my mind. I had a crawler king I converted to 4 wheel steering which i liked, but it also was a pain sometimes when it would have been better off with out it...

That's why you have a selectable 4ws system so you can choose when and when not to use it. The set up just using the servo reversing Y sucks cause all 4 always turn. Get a good set up so you can turn it off when you don't want it. 2ws, 4ws and crab walk.

Thanks, I took awhile to figure out how I wanted the hood to be and finally decided to make the whole front lift up, the plus side is the fenders act as hood props

my new beadlocks came today, at first I put the factory BFG35 tires on, but they didnt grip very well and places the ripsaws had no issues, the BFG tires had major issues. so I went back and put the ripsaws on my new beadlocks and all is well here are a few crawling over my small woodpile with the old rims..and shots of the new rims...
