Ha ha, no worries buddy Do it! I think a black wheel, blue inner ring and red outer ring would look sick! Also, you could add some VP scale disc brakes later for badass looks and an extra scale point

I love my OMF's and never get sick of looking at them Plus, I actually like the thinner .7" rim - it turns great with them compared to stock wheels/tires.

Long over due update! Project Venom got a RC4WD 1" light bar that fits perfectly over the winch fairlead. Plugs straight into the balance port on 3s.

Installed just in time for a night crawl in geyserville!

Entered Project Venom in a Sonoma County Scalers event this past weekend - was a blast! Here's some footage my dad took of the sled pull...

Crawl space, what do you use for a light setup? What do you mean by the "it plugs into the balance board?" Sorry I'm a noob with lights

My homemade lighting setup consists of two red LED's in wraith taillight buckets (20ma, 2.1v wired in series with a 180ohm 1/8watt resistor), and two warm white 1 watt LED's in axial light buckets (275ma, 3.2v wired in series with a 10ohm 1 watt resistor). I don't remember why I used a 10ohm instead of a 3.9ohm, maybe availability? Those lights get powered by the receiver, which used to run on 7.4v but now runs on 7v.

To figure out how to wire a simple light circuit, just use ledcalc.com (based on ohm's law). Any reputable seller of LED's will list ma ratings and an operating voltage range.

The RC4WD light bar comes with a futaba style receiver plug that I cut off and replaced with a 3s balance plug connector (same connector as the balance port on your lipo charger). I have to physically plug the light bar into the balance plug on the battery when I want to use it.
Although the RC4WD light bars are rated for 2s only, they run fine (and much brighter) on 3s.

I hope this helps - I can post some pics later if you like

Here is a picture of what I'm talking about when I say the light bar plugs directly into the balance plug on my 3s Lipo. You could do the same thing with a 2s Lipo balance plug, it just wouldn't be as bright.

By all means, do it! You gonna add a light bar to the dirty dingo?

Of course I can't take credit for the idea as I've heard of a number of people wiring lights that way. However, I did add my own rock light setup in the front. I'll probably add some in the rear too eventually.

I decided to make a modular "BEC cable" with EC3 connectors so I can switch it between different vehicles. Plus, the battery to ESC connection was quite short to begin with.

The finished cable!

Pulled the positive lead out from the ESC plug and convered it with shrink wrap.

what does removing the positive wire from the esc plug do with a BEC?

Since you have power coming from the BEC to the receiver you dont need the power from the ESC's built in BEC feeding power to the receiver also.

It's funny you re-posted this picture. Heckler is right: you only want one source to power the receiver.

I've since changed my setup: I now have the MMP power the receiver (which powers lights and a servo winch) and hook my BEC straight to my power hungry Hitec 7980th. Works like a charm
