Those Helion aluminum shocks are looking good.
They do the 2 bend links so the rod ends all line up with the mounts and don't bind. And running a straight link they are guaranteed to bind unless you use the bent rod ends and those are way, way weaker than the revo ends. Plus the 2 bend links are great for clearing the larger tires offered these days. And as said in another post. That's a very small diameter to be running as links.

We are getting pretty good at high jacking this thread, but at least everything is civilized.

I agree that in some cases the VP links could cause limitations to your steering. This very much depends on your back spacing, tires, and tie rod setup. In snicklefritz's case I don't see there being an issue. On a normal mounted tie rod the ends are going to hit the c hubs before the tire comes into contact with aftermarket wheels.

In my own case my tires just hit the lower links at the same time the nut that holds on my tie rod hits the c hub(I run mine with the tie rod above the steering arms) I have my steering end points to stop just before this point, so it is a minor issue.

They are cheap, that price is for a pair lol. I'm using them front and rear, they have not failed me yet! Lots of rock rash on them and they keep coming back for more.

Since 10/26/12, see post #63:

They are same diameter as VP links and work great, my Wraith has taken many long tumbles, broken cage several times, broken stock plastic links, bent Axial kit aluminum lowers, these Traxxas peices work great for cheap.

'm running XR10 beadlocks, my straight links don't bind just trim tiny bit off skidplate so they clear.

Anyways nice looking build start, just trying to help.

I didn't see any thread jacking, just a little healthy controversy caused by me putting my links on wrong (according to VP). Anyways, I appreciate any and all input. Thanks, guys.

The motor is gonna fit after a little trim to the upper link mount. I won't need to remove much plastic at all.

My straight links never bind

I'm fitting a big motor with lots of trimming so I'm sure that will go in with little hassle

Turnigy 2100 kV 1/8 scale motor. Comparable to tekins t8.

Crazy power on 5 and 6s.

I built this rig for sand. Just happens to crawl decent on low voltage. Pretty good rock bouncer on 4s

Will those shocks give you the travel range you'll need? They seem short?

I dunno. I have the rears at max droop, I may have to change that mounting. Also, I have a set of Prolines on my slash, I guess I should put them in my tool box in case I need them. The track will be open 2 hours before racing starts so I plan on being there early for a little practice and testing.

The slash rears may be longer, I should go check . . .

I thought the shocks looked perfect for the style build this is.

Honestly most of us running longer shocks then needed

I got the motor to fit last night. The trim job doesn't look to bad, either. I'll get some pics up tonight. I just need to get my bec wired in and procure a 32p pinion for a 5mm shaft. Stupid me didn't think about that when I made my last order at RPP, I got two pinions for 1/8" shafts though! Hopefully Hobbytown has some in stock. You never know with those people.

They had one 12 tooth.

My 14 should be showing up in the mail today so I should have a good range of possible ratios. Hopefully I have some time to test. Race is tomorrow.

You won't be the only person testing on race day. Good luck, and see ya there.
