I have a bunch of parts on order including a replacement motor..... i have a stock rtr wraith and fried the motor..... my lhs has a orion 17 motor for cheap that i want to buy for the time being..... will it work and what will the outcome be with the stock esc and gears? I pass the shop on the way home from work and am already passed quitting time so im waiting on an answer before i leave... thanks in advance.

be patient I know its easier said than done. but if you have money to burn get it and maybe take the other motor off the buy list.

it will work but the 20T brushed that comes stock is already over geared with a 20t pinion & 80t spur (4:1)
If you are looking for speed that motor will be faster (& probably less torque)than the stock but I predict major heat issues unless you get that spur / pinion ratio up.
I run a 14t pinion & 87t spur for a 6.21:1 ratio.
I burned up my stock 20T very fast with that 4:1 stock ratio & a lower turn motor will go even faster.

+1

Best motors I have used.. Especially since they're just $23
Way more torque than stock and can be geared up for speed without heat issues.
I run mine on 3s and still have no heat issues.

well i ended up getting the orion... I got a 14 tooth pinion as well, while i was there... which put me at a 5:1 ratio.. i know not optimal, however after about 2 mins of pillow crawling everything was still pretty cool so I'm quite happy about that... now i need a servo lol... can't wait till my shipment comes in
