Thinking about getting this to put it into a poison spyder wraith mostly stock but have aluminum steering and links wondering if this servo is direct bolt in and how well it works.

It is a standard size servo so it will fit with no issues. You will need to get a CC BEC to power the servo and you should wire it direct to the servo and run it at 7.4 volts. I have a 7954 in one my Wraith and it works fine for me. I also run 7950's which is a stronger servo. You will find that some people really like the 7954 and others not so much. |

I'm running one in mine and love it! Like k7zpj said, you will need a BEC.

I've had 3 7954SH's in various rigs (one was a Wraith) and I absolutely love them. Great power for the price.

Been running a 7954 at 7.4v for almost a year. I find it is not strong enough since I upgraded to Pitbulls. Gonna get a 7950 or 7980 instead.

I had read it was similar to a 7950 just with steel gears instead of titanium, if that's not it what else is different?

The 7950 is an all around heavier duty servo than the 7954 and 7955.

Is there a huge difference in price because I can find the 7954 for $75

Yes there is a big difference in price. Honestly, you can definately get stronger sevo's, but you can't beat 403 oz torque for 75.00. (you need the bec @ 7.4v to achieve this) I have a bunch of rigs and that's all I run. |

Is the BEC what eliminates the lunges an sudden stops?

So all I need to run this is the cc bec and is there any extra wear and tear on a servo running it on 7.4v or would it not be very beneficial for me as I run 2s lipos

The 7954 can be directly powered from a 2S lipo. However, I like to use a BEC with the 7954 since a fully charged 2S lipo is at 8.4V.

I have these in both my rigs. I've had them both go out on me. Luckily Hitec repaired for free. They get hot as hell in very small stuff with a lot of back and forth. I am using BEC sets to 7.4. Actually, i think I reset them to 7.2 thinking it might make them run a little cooler? TONS of torque though. Decent price. |

Been running mine for a few months and its holding up so far. I run mine at 6.6V to keep the heat down since I have a lighter truck. Turns my TSLs and heavy aluminum beadlocks no problem Sent from a rock |

I have a 7954 in my Dingo and think it's fine. I had a 7954 in my Wraith and the gears stripped. I replaced it with a 7950 and haven't had any more problems with it. The steering seems to work better too.
