| Re: Spike's Ultimate Wraith Crawler build Yup. Aluminum gets all scratched and gouged up and grabs the rocks instead of sliding over it. Kinda worthless other than for looks.

| Re: Spike's Ultimate Wraith Crawler build Speaking of which, has anyone constructed a belly pan out of high density polyethylene (HDPE), Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWP), Polyoxymethylene (POM), or Delrin Acetal Homopolymer? I suppose I should search before I get flamed, but this seems an obvious segue.

To all those calling this a build, it is not. It's called parts assembly...remove from package, screw together, done. Lots of expensive parts that other people manufactured do look great though. Don't have much, but wished I had all the equipment necessary to make parts like these.

Well, I have never done very much on these types of forums and I can see why. There is way too much negativity on here. Jeff has been building this BUILD for me and is doing a h@%l of a job in my opinion. I also must add he has been great to work with and very informative. Keep up the good work bud!

There are many of us who love to build RCs for the simple fact that you CAN just buy parts and bolt them on and go. That is one of the main reasons I spend time on this forum is because all the small time vendors who make top notch custom parts.....that you can just bolt on! Because of the awesome vendors on this forum you CAN build a top notch crawler with all bolt on parts. Im capable of fabricating amazing custom rc parts but as a full time welder/fabricator I spend 80 to 100 hours a week welding and fabricating stuff for other people/companies. The last thing I feel like doing after a 14 hour day is to fab stuff for my RC cars. Granted I still do build a lot of custom parts on my builds, but only if its something that cant be bought. So stop being so critical of other peoples builds....a build doesn't have to be all custom made to be awesome. In fact some of the crappier builds ive seen on here are from people who tried to build there own custom parts but have no skillz Dont mean to be harsh but it pi$$es me off when people disrespect other peoples builds. Its an awesome build and just because there is no custom fabbed parts means nothing. Is going to be a really sweet rig. . Last edited by Trugg; 02-01-2014 at 04:35 PM. | |

I'm betting you ( johnnysplits) start with some raw materials and finish with what ever the empty space in your head comes up with whatever it is someone else has touched it before you so we are all assembling/building our toys looks like a great build to me

I think builds like this are sort of double edged. On one hand they are cool because they show how far the niche of the hobby has come in the last 10 years. On the other hand there is no denying that the roots of rc crawling are in builds that follow more of a "built not bought" mantra and these builds really don't fit that. I personally have way more respect for anyone who builds their own parts, but I accept that everyone has their own taste. As far as the "internet police" goes, this place would have never lasted without consistent enforcement of rules. If you don't like them, go somewhere else. |

| Re: Spike's Ultimate Wraith Crawler build Yes and the stock plastic skid would be a even better choice. There is nothing wrong with the stock Wraith skidplate and works better than any metal skid plate by far. What would be really nice though would be if someone would make a delrin skid plate for the Wraith. I would buy one for sure. But enough of hijacking the OPs thead....its a nice build and I look forward to seeing more. |
