LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. Hello. this is my wraith. i wanted to mod my wraith for mor flex without widening it. i like the stock width. i found myself sitting with 8 hsp pangolin shocks left from my Zil 157 6x6 Build. those shock are a copy of the old ax10 shocks. with stock width and a lowered stans (i run with lower links paralell with tranny plate) i couldnt just raise the shock mounts and throw on the shock because then the wheels would hit the cage. so i started searching for cage mods. the back i found here on rccrawler.com dont know ho to give cred for it. the front i worked out along the way. now i have 17cm flex without any wheel leaving the ground. not a huge wheel lift but suits me. what do you all think? http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...33BAE04C15.jpg the front, one unthougt advantage was that i now can lay one off my saddlepack lipo cells over the front axle. http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...55D2D4E145.jpg http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...E5572F0D69.jpg http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...4FA3F4C622.jpg sorry for the poor quality of the photos. here comes two action shots from the latest gathering in Stockholm/Sweden. http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/...58BE667127.jpg |

Re: LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. Definitely a different take on the cage mods. Don't know whether to love it or hate it but it's quite effective. Pretty unique to say the least. |
Looks great and definitely unique. Front end looks mean. Sent from my SM-T210R using Tapatalk 2 |
As this is going to se som light competition this summer i am trying to reduce the overall wheigt, the easiest thing to start with i the wraith corbeau seats and my homemade figures. Together they weigh in at 252grams. I made seats in balsa wood and now im working on new figures. The new seats weigh in on 12grams together so i shaved off 100grams there! The bodies now wheigh in on 9grams together. Dont now if this is interesting for you at all? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/01/u6ubahun.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/01/4y9ebaqe.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/01/ydaryzyn.jpg |
Re: LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. Brother, that's a nice looking cage! I dig the bends in the back section! |
LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. Thank you! As i said i cant take cred for it! I have not much to report on figures, only made a helmet since last uppdate. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/13/gapuzyvy.jpg |
Re: LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. I really like what you did with the front end. Im glad to see some more threads coming out with people chopping up the cage. I searched and searched and all I could find was different takes on the fast back mod but nothing to speak for in regards to the front end. Im in the middle of cutting up my cage as well so it's cool to see what other people are doing. Cheers. |
Re: LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. Liking the micro servo steering column. Will look even better once you have some arms on those figures. Lots of great work here my friend! |
Re: LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. I like the cage. Mycket Bra! |
LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. Bansh88 känner jag dig via något annat forum? Thanks for liking it! The only thing i regret is not making bigger archs on the front end! I made everything up as i worked on it and didnt realise that it would look better. But it really doesent matter because then i would need to change stock links over drivshafts and many other mods to the bits left of the original front to atain more flex. I will now work on the figures and also modding the stock foam for a more rigid sidewall in steep sidehill downtrawell. Right know the tyres fold and it slides on the forward downfacing rim. Removing wheight overall is a piece of that pussel but a hard center foam takes away most of the problem. |
Made some progress on the new driver figure! Two seats, one figure and the steering column weighs in om 38g total. I am loking for heads with open helmets but i cant find in 1/8 scale so this ugly styrofoam ball will have to suffice for now. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/28/rede2uha.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/28/a5amyzaq.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/28/y3y8ymur.jpg |
LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. Forgot i have reworked my front foams now! Skipped reworking the back foams. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/29/qasanene.jpg |

Re: LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. cage seems to work very well for crawling |
Re: LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. would look awesome with double shock lower links |
I am aiming for a crawler and im not using it for anything else! Its also pretty wallet friendly not running 3s and to much power. Is there any advantage with dual shocks or is it just a look thing? It works pretty ok now i think. Ive only been able to really drive it once since the spring rolled in here in sweden, and after that i have changed the front foams and got rid of weight and installed rear wheel steering so now im waiting for a 3ch sender so i can test it properly before further upgrades. And first on the list is a proper crawler esc (like ae2) |
Oil drum for my wrath!:) made out of 3 tuna cans! http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/09/2eza2u2a.jpg |
Re: LCW89. my wraith: Old Blue. Very clever, rear mods seem very effective, front looks completely different, aggressive. Oil drum idea is killer! |
