Pretty sure you will have to modify the mount slightly. I have one on my wraith on a VP CMS and had to do quite a bit of grinding for it to work. Attempted to see if it would work on the stock mount and it wouldn't. The holes in the stock mount will have to be notched for the mount posts to spread slightly farther apart.

Can one of you guys please post some pics of the 7980 in the wraith if you get a chance? I was trying to order the vp mount yesterday for this very purpose and I am assuming it won't fit in either the stock location or the mount. I called vp and asked this question and was told it wouldn't fit. So, I am assuming, if you got it in the vp mount it must needed some grinding. I want to see it if you can please. Thanks guys! |

No idea about the 7989 in a wraith, but I have one for my xr10 and it is wider and taller then standard servo. So I would think you can either enlarge the screw slots on the servo, along with shaving down the inside of both servo mounts; or reach out to someone like CW cralwers on here and see if he can sell you some servo mounts with wider opening and further-spaced screw holes ( vertically and maybe horizontally). It's not that much bigger but it would definitely require customizing the mounting parts to fit in |

| Re: Hitec 7980 in stock location? Here is what I had to do to make this servo work. 1. You will have to file down the sides of the VP CMS. It will have to be filed until it almost is at the machined screw holes on both sides. 2. The holes in the plastic mounts in the servo will have to be opened up and slotted! I have my CMS installed backwards and the servo mounted on the back side of the CMS. (With the CMS flipped it is actually the, now, front side) then screw in the provided hardware from the back side through the CMS first then into the servo. I know my instructions aren't the best but hopefully the picture helps. If you need anymore help please pm me. |

Intresting! just ordered my first wraith kit and I have a 7980 just laying there. I figured I jam it in the wraith. It is (as said earlier) slightly bigger than standard size servos. |

Nice work on that CMS from Vanquish, was worried about the material, and there being enough to grind away, props for guinea pigin' that find. Looks good now just gotta deal with bump steer.... Made mine fit on the stock axial servo mount, all you do is hog out the eyelet till the upright mount fits around the servo body....not hard. But look at Dlux's bta mount(AR60 truss/servo mount), this is now the trick set-up, no more bent servo horns in the U4RC series. The servo sits lower and behind the axle, with a better COG for the axle. IMO....check it out for yourself, Dlux Fab, got the crown, to be down!!! Last edited by TheAxialNut; 02-28-2014 at 12:51 PM.
