2 sets of brushes in nearly 5 years (guessing from the dates on the thread) isn't too bad.
Ideally soft brushes wear & are replaced cheaply rather than hard brushes lasting ages but chewing out the comm & requiring the replacement of the more expensive armature.

That comm is certainly chewed up, sticking new brushes straight onto that is going to wear them fast, that really needs a rebuild.
Are you running in lots of dust, mud, dirty water?? these are all things that'll chew brushes & comm.

Yeah, there was a good couple years that my wraith just sat on the shelf. Never run it in mud or water. Semi dusty occasionally. But compared to the first set of brushes, the second went super quick. Thought it might be the motor/comm though, feels rough. Wondering if it's even worth it to send and have rebuilt, or just go to a brushless setup. No one locally even has brushes, luckily have some from my 25 year old motors. Was looking at some of the brushless setups, but have to refamiliarize myself the the kv vs. turn ratings again.
