| 2 day old Wraith, bad servo already.
First post here on RCC. I got my wraith yesterday and already have a bad servo. Only ran 2 packs through it. The shaft has a bunch of play in it and the truck doesn't want to steer. I also noticed from a stand still if I input steering then try to roll forward or back I get nothing, then a second later it will jump. I called axial and they were very helpful. Sending me a upgraded replacement servo. A higher torque 7something or other. |

Time for a new servo and BEC. Hitec 7954/7955 or any of the upper end Savox servos will work. Just do some research on here before you buy. Wraith will eat weak servos for lunch Yes the Castle BEC is required equipment when upgrading servos. Lots of information about them on rcc. Good luck Sent from a rock |

Tower will continue to replace them as you break them for the first year.....shhhhhh. Just remember, there is no servo saver on that vehicle so the servo takes a beating. The Tactics TSX47 I think is the replacement part for the stock servo. It is the new servos being installed in the SCX10 now from the factory. May take a few months before we start seeing them in the field but thats just what it takes sometimes. I really wish they would put a stronger servo on the Wraith than that of the SCX10. Wraith is much harder on servos that the SCX. And when you start adding weight to the front end.....done! Bottom line, if you're not running some form of servo saver, and you dont upgrade to a really heavy servo, you're gonna break them often. |

Would a local place like Home Depot or something have the 6x10x2.5 mm bearing? I was thinking of doing that mod until the new servo arrives. If not then I will just wait.

I ran about 4 or 5 packs through my Wraith before the gears in the srevo went south, I had put a bearing in it. I bought a Savox servo 1256 and have done a test and it seems to perform very well. I don't have an external bec, just the one built in the esc, didn't experiance any glitches during the test, about a half an hour. 2s lipo 5000mAh 40C.

you will end up needing that BEC if you keep that savox, about an 1.5 hours in to that 5000mah pack it'll start acting up. You might experience what is known as brown out, then you'll see the need for the BEC. First I would call axial customer support and get a new servo replacement, then you can collect parts and do the install later on down the road.

The Wraith really needs a 400oz servo to work at it's best. The RTR servo is kind of misleading because although it does work at first, it's really set up to fail as it's just not up to the task in the long run.

i agree, i use the 7980th for the wraith in a standard set-up, and don't wait for a brown out in your esc to put a BEC on the system. The esc will probably get damaged by then and you might have other problems with it after you over heat the circuitry.

Guys what about the truck not wanting to move and them jump a second later? Is that because of the bad servo? It didn't start doing that until the servo got all messed up.

If the servo is beat internally and binding or sticking and causing high power draw, it's gonna cause other issues much like what you are experiencing.

Ok the new servo came today. That was pretty quick shipping, very happy about that. The replacement is a TSX45. Installed and working. I had to reverse steering on the tx. Last edited by KBR97; 04-03-2014 at 08:11 PM. |

The AE-2 is flashing green and solid beep when throttle/reverse is applied. Everything seems to be running ok despite the beeping/flashing. Any ideas why? |

My servo lasted 3 packs of moderate heavy driving. RC is a pretty expensive hobby and my suggestion is MG946R inexpensive and I personally dont run into any bec issues. I was taught that the third adjustment on your controller will prevent any bec just tune the steering d/r to the point at the steering where it begins to bind.
