Thumbs up Re: DeathStar 2.0

A long time ago on a TTC course far, far away...

I know I've been slacking on finishing this rig, but it's finally done.

I trimmed and painted the body, which wasn't fun at all but turned out great. I used Spaz Stix black on the panels, SEM automotive trim paint on the flares & doors, and Tamiya clear orange and clear red on the lights. I dyed some small Dubro nylon hinges black and bolted them so the hood and grill open for easy access to the electronics. I finished it off with some aluminum CarterFab, Jeep & Wrangler emblems. The pilot is a 6-inch Hasbro Black Series #09 Stormtrooper.

I added a HeyOK winch controller, Pull Pal and rear d-rings. I painted the hi-lift jack gray and black to look like a Smittybilt Trail Jack. And mounted the EXO radiator to the upper cage section with p-clamps.

The shocks were way shorter than I expected, so I removed the front droop kit completely, then mounted the rear droop kit upside down on the front to make a lift kit. This thing weighs about 8.7 lbs., so I used the longer single-stage springs along with the upper dual-stage springs and 20-weight oil.

I'm planning to give it a break-in run tomorrow before taking it to the Keystone TTC next week.

Not from Super Shafty, but it's an HR aluminum case stuffed with RRP hardened gears and slipper.

Well, I took this beast to the KRC TTC today and did ok. I placed first in the show & shine, second in the sled pull, second in the mud bog, and sixth overall. Not too bad for her first time off the shelf.

I picked up a set of BGR v3 sliders and powdercoated them in Black Magic to match my other parts. I also got a GearHead scale cooler...not sure where I'm going to mount it yet.

And here are few pics taken by Tin Soldier(Ryan) at a comp a few months ago:
