Shocks question... I know it has been ask before but i would like to have ur opinion for my specific rig... I'm running a MMp/Pro 4 3300kv, for general bashing (not really crawling)... Now i have the stock one but I want to lower a bit my ride height, for better maneuvrability and less roll over! So, G-made transition piggyback? Integy? Pro-line powerstroke rear? Front? King shocks... Don't know which one and what lenght??? And WHY??? I have a preference for the Powerstroke 90-95mm but i'm not sure if the lenght will be ok for what i want/need!?! thx |
Asbestos suit on. Flame me if you must! OK I dont know the others... but for the ProLine PowerStrokes... Big bore slash shocks, don't bother with the skinny scale shocks. Slash fronts if you don't have a lowering kit, Slash rears if you do. Why the big bores? You simply need to have them to adequately handle dampening. Take a look at 1/10 off road and 1/8 offroad. No skiny scale shocks there. And I don't care what shock you choose..... Team Associated Green Slime when you are building the shocks! |
Re: Shocks question... I've got the GMade XD piggybacks and can say that they function as advertised. |
Re: Shocks question... I am running Proline line Power Strokes (Slash Rear 6063-01) on my Wraith with no issues with a Tekin Roc412 3100kv. The Proline Power Stroke Scaler shocks 90mm-95mm (6060-00) are too light weight for the Wraith. If you go with the Power Strokes get 1 of the Universal Mounting kit 6063-05 for the upper mount balls. |
Re: Shocks question... Thumbs up on Traxxas Bigbores. Cheap, works great. |
Re: Shocks question... Hum, seems the front slash powerstrokes is the way to go... I be live they re about 98.5mm!?! So with longer rod end they should be right at 102mm... But damn they are expensive... I have losi comp crawler shocks 100mm... Maybe with 80k silicone oil??? |
I thought power stroke rears we the ticket? Huh, I just bought them and slapped axial blk and purple springs w/30 weight oil. Seem great. But I'm a noob. Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk |

Re: Shocks question... Front for me cause i want a low cog... its not a crawler but a rock racer/basher in my case so I want a "droop" setup |
Re: Shocks question... The stock wraith shock will allow for a low ride height. Just flip the rear upper mount, then move the front shocks upper mounting hole inward on the chassis and unthread the preload adjusters a few rounds to match the rear. Easy over 1/2" drop without loosing any actual wheel travel. I'm running a Tekin 10.5 turn on 2s geared 17/87 for snow-bashing and the stock shocks with Associated 40 weight and the kit soft springs are fairly supple and tolerate small jumping without getting out of shape. Try moving the shock mounts and switching to heavier oil before you go spending money on shocks you probably don't really need. If your going more than 5mph you don't want a true droop setup. Literally acts like your sitting on the bumpstops at speed. |
Re: Shocks question... I already did the upper mount flip... And thx for the advise... I will try different oil before spending over 70$ for new shocks... maybe a ticker oil? 60-80k? And yes, my rig go way faster than 5mph:twisted: |
Re: Shocks question... But not sure what U means by: ''then move the front shocks upper mounting hole inward on the chassis and unthread the preload adjusters a few rounds to match the rear.'' Do U have a pic? I'm French Canadian by the way... so a bit hard to anderstand when its technical... |
Re: Shocks question... Traxxas Big bore shocks from the E-Maxx work. ive seen someone flip the shock mounts and put the big bores on with losi white soft springs in the front and red traxxas tight springs in the back it looked nice |
Re: Shocks question... I run Slash Bigbore rear shocks with Level3 drop kit. Here's how it sits with Axial purple springs, without any weight from battery: http://www.norcc.com/vb/attachment.p...1&d=1385766166 |
