I bought a Holmes hobbies rebuildable 27t motor worked good for the first few runs. now it's like the motor gets stuck. won't move when on the throttle unless I push my wraith first. anyone had this happen before, what causes it how did you fix it thanks

I had the same kind of problem with a 35T Integy Lathe motor years ago.

Problem was that some of the windings had had their nonconducting coating burn up and were shorting. I hand wound the motor and it's still going strong. I made a 30T out of it.

I recommend contacting HH they have great customer service.

Yep, that's what I was going to say. I've had that happen many times.. Especially after running in very dry and dusty conditions.

Back in the buggy/truck racing days a hard tumble down the straight would sometimes tweak the brush hood just wrong to make the brush bind and either lock the motor up or it would keep going yet burn up the comm if you were really unlucky.

OP pull the springs off the brushes and pull the brushes out. If the brushes look clean and smooth take a peak at the commutator they ride on. Odds are one or the other is in bad shape.

I dont know much about taking the motors apart, I was thinking about sending it in to them and just rebuild it 12$ shouldn't break the bank

So learn? With only a few runs on it, it's highly unlikely that it needs to be rebuilt. You should at least check the brushes yourself before spending the money to send it back. It's extremely easy to do. Just take a pair of needle nose pliers and take the springs off, and gently pull the brushes out of their slots and inspect them. After you put it back together, gently pull the brushes out a little and be sure they snap back in place onto the commutator.

spray the brushes while at WOT with plain water, cleans them up.

I had a similar issue with a relatively low use 35T tourquemaster.
I think it was the third time it stopped I was presented with this after disassembly...
