My new Wraith, and IFS Wraith project

Hey all,

Unfortunately being mates with Grimace who has posted a thread on his wraith, I ended up buying one.

A R2R poison spider one.

The original spur gear lasted about 5 minutes, due to my total lack of common sense, and binary throttle action.

I have since replaced that and it has done a few hours running now.

I am running the std gearing, but 3000ma 3S batteries and for what it is it's pretty fast!

It can't quite outrun our Golden retriever on a flat field though which is frustrating! :)

Only other mod so far is an alloy Servo horn as the original plastic ones dont last very long.

I also have a BEC on order.

I had started to think about converting this to IFS and making it go as fast as possible, but I have decided that's a bit of a waste so I will keep this one for crawling, and I have purchased a bare cage/chassis from RC-Recycler to make something else out of.

Axial Wraith Rock Racer Roll Cage Chassis Frame w/ Links Interior Scale Crawler

I was thinking the Blue Monkey IFS, and as powerful motor as I can fit, but I really have no idea what I am doing so be prepared for some stupid questions!

cheers!
Pete

i would put a 45t HD tekin motor in it and flip the shock mounts to lower it a little and improve the COG. Also some traxxas Big bore shocks would be a good idea.
Be prepared for the stock motor to burn out from crawling.

Lower shock mounts are flipped on the PS already.

Pete doesn't do 'crawlin' he does 'haulin'

:ror:

Now got a Robinson racing spur gear / slipper installed.

Std motor seems to be holding up pretty well so far.

Just ordered the blue monkey IFS kit with steering arms and trailing arm conversion for the project Wraith. Their website has been updated so hopefully they have stock.

Very cool Pete, after starting to mod my sons Wraith & seeing the Blue Monkey IFS kit a little while ago I am tempted to buy one & go that route so we have both U4 & Crawler styles covered.
But with the amount you can spend I might be better off buying parts for my real U4 ...... decisions decisions lol

Hey Brooksy! I know what you mean. This isn't really a cheap hobby is it!
Having to keep my budget slightly under control as I just got another D90 as well! This time a brand new one! Not as cool as your U4 however!

Will have a look for your thread

Ordered some more bits (BEC, motor, and servo) for the IFS wraith project, and a new servo for the R2R

Castle Creations 20A BEC Pro Voltage Regulator
2 Savox SA-1231SG Tall Digital "High Torque" Steel Gear Servo
Tekin Redline SC4X Sensored Brushless 550 Motor (4.5T)

Hopefully some of these arrive bits soon!

Re: My new Wraith.

I had quite a lot of bits arive over the last few days.

The BlueMonkey kts arrived today. Have had a quick look through the parts. The BM stuff looks good, although at first glance I am missing the studs for the trailing arms. Anyone else had these in their kit?

The motor/servo/bec etc all arrived as well.

Thanks BH. Just been reading your thread. Very cool!

I have sent Matt a message on his website. Unfortunately I live a long way away so getting a set sent may be hard!
