Anybody run their Crawlmaster or other motor with any timing? I'm just curious what the pros and cons would be?

I always ran the recommended timing advance from holmes hobbies site...

*6 degrees of timing advance is popular and will not adversely affect motor life

How does it benefit the motor or the performance of the vehicle? More power, faster, run more efficient?

Stripped out the stock servo horn today. I guess a savox and vp steering will do that lol.

Axial aluminum servo horn showed up today, along with the posts to keep the hood secure. I played around with some magnets a but I just didn't come to a setup that I was pleased with.

I also have a dynamic concepts rubi body coming. I have a wrangler as my daily driver/weekend crawler so I would like to paint it and set it up as close to the 1:1 as possible. I'll probably go with the 8 hole mickey thompson wheels to match. And I would like to make a small stubby bumper to match as well.

I have read that the testors model paint may crack on lexan bodies because of flex. Do you think I would be ok just to do the front fenders and the grill black?

I like to use Lexan paint for all Lexan body surfaces, just to be sure of adhesion.

Ok sounds good. I'll grab a can of black for the grill and fenders.

Took a trip with the family up to my fathers weekend getaway house in Massachusetts. There is a nice river across from his property that has some real nice rocky banks when the water isn't real high. Did some trail running along the river and then some crawling down on the rocks.

Guys if you don't mind, take a look at my thread in "paint & body". Having a little trouble with my new body. I'm sure scissors and a Dremel will fix it but I'm trying to keep as much body as possible...

Having trouble with dynamic concepts body.

What's up man, I figured that by the name.
I'm looking into hot racing gears. Harley used them in his budget build and stated that they work very well despite being hot racing. I'll order something by the end of the week whether it's RPP Or Hot racing.

Looking good! I just built one just like that in green lol. The body is a pain to get right but it comes out nice. What part of ma is that? Looks like a good spot.

Need some tips on a problem I'm having tonight. I plugged a battery in to make sure everything was good to go for tomorrow. I noticed that its acting like it lost bind for some reason? When I powered it up I get the blinking lights and constant beeping from the ae2. I plugged in the bind plug and went through the whole procedure a few times and I get nothing. Same blinking and beeping.

Edit....After trying to bind I get this

Transmitter - flashing green light
AR3 RX - solid red
AE-2 continues rapid flash and beep every second

Turn it all off, power it back up and no response.

Watch the YouTube videos for binding/calibrating...Axial does them...I ran into a similar situation a couple weeks back and discovered the calibration process much quicker than what I was doing.

I did watch those. Thats actually the first thing I did was go right to youtube to make sure of the binding procedure. I'm starting to think that maybe the problem is more then just the truck not binding. The solid red light on the AR3 should mean that bind was successful.

First thing I noticed in the "calibration" video was that there was servo response. I'm not getting any response from throttle or servo.

Not yet. Haven't had time to play around with it again yet. Although I am leaning towards maybe the ESC being bad. I do recall the rig getting pretty wet last time it was out.

When I go through the bind procedure the blinking light on the AR3 goes solid which is supposed to mean the bind was successful. But the AE-2 keeps blinking red/green rapidly and also has a continuous beep every 1-2 seconds. No response from throttle/reverse or steering. I'll have mess with it this week when I have some free time.
