| Newbie needs help, what RX?
So I ordered my Wraith kit . I have a Castle MMP and CC BEC. Was planning to run a Hobbywing 3656sd 3400KV motor. Not sure how I decided that other than I want brushless (never delt with Brushed and guess I don't want to have to worry about maintnance) and have read it's good for speed and crawling. I plan on Using the controller from My Traxxas Stampede. I have no idea what reciever I need. Will any rx work? I know I need to Link my Controller up to the ESC once I have it all hooked up. I think I have a fair and workable combo with the Controller, Rx, and Motor I've selected, but need help with the last component. If you think i should go another way please let me know. I already have the controller and ESC, but have not ordered the motor as of yet. |

Generally you will need the same brand Rx as your Tx is...I use a Futaba 3pm and a matching receiver made by Futaba. It doesn't matter what esc or motor you have because it all plugs into your Rx. At the very least you need a 3 channel Tx/Rx though. What brand controller came with your Stampede?

Hm, it's a "TQi 2.4GHz Transmitter and Receiver". I think it is a 2CH. Sorry for the ignorance, but is each channel a "setting" that can control a vehicle? Why do I need a 3ch? Oh, I won't be using a dig or rear steering. That might require another channel then?

To use that tx you just need to get a traxxas 2.4 RX. 2 channel will be OK if you are good with just throttle and steering. I'm not sure if that tx has model memory tho. But you can just adjust it in every time if you need to.

Cool, thanks that's what I needed to know. I'll look into the model memory thing. | |
