Thanxs.... Just had a good break-in run with the new parts and gearing. The new Vanquish axles and pumpkin covers have their battle scars now! The Wraith crawled very good before these recent mods, now it crawls incredibly well....at the loss of flat out speed though. For the first time ever, I heard the slipper clutch engage, which means I'm obviously running more torque through the drive-train. This is with Axial 27t motor and 14t/87t gearing and 2S power. I may try out the 14t pinion for shits and giggles to see how it performs from there. I'm assuming it will run even slower on the top end with 14t pinion...correct? May even go out and get myself a 3S battery to see what happens! The next upgrade is going to be lockers front and rear.....just too much slop with the stock lock!!! Any suggestions? Sounds like the HR is a decent one from what I have been reading. Thanxs....Yes, I am blown away by the abilities of this machine. Couldn't be happier....well, more new parts always makes you happier!!!! |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler Few changes and upgrades to the Wraith lately....Filled the transmission up with Robinson racing gears and bolted up a Traxxas 21T Titan motor. Gears are now 17t / 87t. Also changed out the OEM front and rear lockers with Locked UP FI Spools and threw in a pair of Axial Universal axles; zero slop in the drive-line now. Going out for a big run tomorrow and hopefully I will get some good pics. |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler Thanxs. I will find out tomorrow. I had the Axial 27t motor with the same gearing and the Wraith performed incredibly well; lots of wheel speed and climbed awesome. Hopefully the Traxxas motor impresses me. I'll let ya know. |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler A fellow Victorian! Wahoo! |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler Well......I have to say, the Traxxas 21t Titan motor was awesome (geared at 17t / 87t, 3S LIPO). Did a long three + hour run up Mt. Doug today with some very knarly climbs and the motor was exceptional. Tons of wheel speed and extremely impressive low speed torque for slow climbing. I'm gonna get the same spare motor for back-up now...it's that good....and not to mention fairly inexpensive. With all the mods performed to my Wraith ($$$$), it was absolutely bulletproof today. Quite a number of other rigs had breakdowns today, but mine was good to go; and she took a good bashing! <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/156142005@N05/35962396125/in/album-72157682732498833/" title="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_16"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4313/35962396125_41f6ae133a_o.jpg" width="1024" height="576" alt="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_16"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/156142005@N05/35921263986/in/album-72157682732498833/" title="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_11"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4316/35921263986_bfce163d8e_o.jpg" width="1024" height="576" alt="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_11"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/156142005@N05/35122435374/in/album-72157682732498833/" title="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_09"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4297/35122435374_dbd5ccf3cc_o.jpg" width="1024" height="677" alt="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_09"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/156142005@N05/35962396585/in/album-72157682732498833/" title="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_08"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4315/35962396585_79015957ab_o.jpg" width="1024" height="576" alt="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_08"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/156142005@N05/35921264266/in/album-72157682732498833/" title="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_07"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4298/35921264266_7cff19374f_o.jpg" width="1024" height="795" alt="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_07"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/156142005@N05/35122435814/in/album-72157682732498833/" title="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_05"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4322/35122435814_7234f2e9b9_o.jpg" width="1024" height="576" alt="MtDoug_6_Jun_14_05"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

( First sorry my very bad english...google translate bad ) The side show a little bit special, but the eye to get used to But I see the back of the picture sure to >> be a very sturdy and a strong !! I see some youtube video how the wraith stock the rear shock mooring part of the groan / jump ! Not good. You custom be certainly very good ! Me coming wraith soon...Can I copy your idea ? Maybe make to do the same style. |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler Thanxs...absolutely, feel free to use my design. It works very well and is very strong. |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler So many questions : •Do you like those lower links? •Are you still just running the Axial Ax-2 ESC with the Titan motor? Does the motor bolt right onto the stock motor plate? Does the motor have a lot of low end power or is it mainly a speedy motor? |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler The lower links look good, but that's about it. I'm going to be ordering a full set of VP links. Yes, stock ESC with CC BEC. One link mount needs to be trimmed to fit the larger motor in. I also shortened the motor shaft. The motor is a great balance of low end grunt and wheel speed (with gearing I am using). |

Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler That's one hot wraith. Sweet photo's. The wraith springs work well on many shocks. |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler Just search "Victoria Scale 4x4" on Facebook and request acceptance. |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler Hello bilinvic, i ask also you: How you have istallated: Wraith car battery the front side ? Your ESC behing and ( i also put ) suffice ESC cable length in front ? OR need extend ESC cable ? If you have got to extend ESC cable, what cable you use ? i make privat email rear custom. |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler Not required to tell, maybe i will now desing own system. Sorry my the previous question > battery.... |
Re: bilinvic's Wraith Rock Crawler A couple more new mods.... Gear Head 2.2 Five Star EZ-Loc Beadlock Wheels Vanquish Products Wraith 8 pc 3/16 Titanium Link Set The Gear Head wheels are beautifully done and the term EZ-Loc is no joke, it was a piece of cake to mount the wheels to the Pitbull Rock Beast II tires. I was running with the Axial Rockster beadlock wheels and have no complaints with them...I just wanted something with some more weight to them without having to add wheel weights. Axial Rockster wheels w/o any added weight - 50g Axial Rockster wheels w/ weight that I had added - 94g Gear Head wheels (with all hardware) - 150g Gear Head wheels mounted to the Pitbull tire - 315g I was using the Axial upper aluminum links and Integy Machined Lower Suspension Links (Anodized Green). Nothing wrong with the Axial links, they are going on my son's Deadbolt. Can't say the same for the crappy Integy links, the pressed in ball retainers were falling out and they were binding. Yes, they looked good, but that is it!!!! Lesson learned. I currently have a pair of Beet Tubes enroute. "thumbsup" I was just about to order the Tekin ROC 412 BL motor and MMP, but on the same day, the Yeti was announced. I pre-ordered the Yeti and that will be my crazy rock basher project. I'm going to keep the Wraith as a brushed powered rock crawler.
