It sure is a crawler....it's the best of both worlds now because the ROC 412 series is made for crawling too (it's sensored). Sounds like there's a few rigs heading out for a crawl tomorrow...I will be sure to report back with how she performs.

Two words describe the performance of my Wraith now....."Holy Shit". If you have been on the fence with this motor / ESC combo....do not wait any longer. I am in love all over again. Goes like a bat out of hell and crawls just the same with a brushed motor, if not better because you have massive amounts of power to get the wheels spinning to power over everything! Yes, you can have the best of both worlds. In fact, I'm going to dial down the power a bit off of initial throttle because it's just too much! I learned one thing today, don't stand behind my Wraith and give 'er...my shoes were covered in dirt from the massive roosts! I better start stocking up on replacement rubber.

Now I'm having second thoughts about even getting the Yeti....this machine does it all now....ya right, I'm not cancelling my pre-order!

Waterproof would be icing on the cake....but that's OK, I can live without that aspect with this machine. Maybe the Yeti will be made into a full waterproof basher! Hmmm, now ya got me thinking.

Hey Bil....when you say it took a bit of grinding what exactly are you referring to? The beeftubes diameter or the VP axles? Or are you talking about the flange on the rear shafts?

It's the Beeftube that needs a bit of grinding; only need to remove approximately 1.5 mm or so to widen the groove for the screws that pass through for the shock/link mounts. I used my Dremel with a diamond shaft tool to widen the groove (it needs to be wider the inner side, towards the pumpkin on both sides, top and bottom. Then I used a small diamond coated round jewelers file to smooth the edges. Lots of testing fitting required....but it will work.

Since I have the "fastback" mod, there's no coverage for my new MMP ESC; I'm not a mudder, but if it starts raining I wanted to give the MMP some protection from the elements. I decided to fab up a cover from aluminum flashing. It's simply pressure fits into position with tabs so it can be removed without tools. I quite like how it worked out, leaves plenty of space for airflow and looks kinda kool. It's little things like this that I love fabricating.

On another note, I stopped by the LHS today and for shits and giggles, picked up a 3300mAh 4S 30C LIPO battery because one can never have enough power! Brought it home, charged it up and took the Wraith for a test drive on the street. WOW....incredible power. All of my driveline is modded up with all the good parts, except I was running the stock axle gears.....I guess I'm heading back down to the LHS tomorrow to pick up new Axial HD axle gears. The front one gave it up fairly quickly. BUT WOW, did I mention how much power my Wraith had and still able to crawl at a snail's pace?

I'll keep the 4S battery for messing around. I also picked up a 5000mAh 3S 50C LIPO battery for a spare and a 6000mAh 2C 50C LIPO battery for my son's Deadbolt. With the batteries I already have, now I have enough battery power to keep both machines running all day long. It will be nice not having to worry about conserving juice now.

Now that I have cleaned up the parts and VP axle, I can see what went wrong. The four screws that bolt the FI Spool onto the main gear had backed out and were rubbing the inner casing, which obviously caused the gears to improperly mesh together. Lesson learned, red Loctite for the FI Spools is a must. I guess I should rip apart the rear axle as well and get this taken care of too.

Red Loctite ??? Are you sure about that? Cause if you want to take it off..you'll need a torch. I just got some F.I. spools for my G6..how are yours holding up?

Lol...you know that you were looking for an excuse to upgrade the gears btw I think your fastback mod is exceptional! It looks like you have an anti sway bar or something...do you?

The spools are holding out great.... so far. Not a big deal to torch the spool bolts if I ever need to remove it.

It kinda was an intentional excuse, I wanted to see where the weak link was before I hit the trail again. Everything in the tranny was perfect. While I was in there, I swapped out my 12t pinion for a 11t.

No anti-sway.... the fastback mod was built to be very tough and that's how that design came about. Ties multiple points together.

All is good now. Picked up a pair of Axial HD 43/13T axle gears and my machine is good to go!!!!

Another fantastic day of crawling at Mt. Doug in Victoria, BC. I know I keep going on about my new motor/ESC set-up, but man 'O man, it is truly incredible. The ROC412 3100kV motor combined with the MMP is out of this world. My Wraith is dialed in perfectly. Being able to crawl at such a controlled low speed one second and then the next second, so much power to create a dust storm. I didn't even use the 4S battery today and was blown away by the performance. For a six hour run today, I only used one 5000c 3S 50c battery and didn't even come close to draining the second 3300 3S 30c battery. It just can't get any better with this combo.
