| My Blue Monkey IFS/Trailing Arm Wraith Semi Build Thread
So after building my first Wraith I had a ton of parts sitting around after going nuts with upgrades and decided to put them to use on a fast basher type build. The BlueMonkey kit caught my eye so I pulled the trigger on the IFS and Stage 2 trailing arm kits. Then made a massive parts order for the Wraith chassis and exo parts needed. I apologize for the iphone pics, but that's what I had handy as I built this. I will also keep commentary to a minimum and kind of let the pics do the talking. I will however try my best to answer any questions about doing a build like this. I am no master builder but would love to help others out if I can. Now to the pics.... Pile of goodies and new chassis assembled. Servo and radio box mounted. Front end coming together. Trans and rear axle mounted. Mocked up and on the wheels for the first time. Bump steer eliminated. The extreme angle of the steering link caused massive bump steer. Good news is that the fix was simple. I used some conical washers as spacers to even out the links, 2 on the knuckle and one on the bellcrank. This setup now has ZERO bump steer. Electronics in, getting it all buttoned up! DONE! Gratuitous poser shot.... Last edited by BuzzinHornets; 05-04-2014 at 11:11 PM. |

Awesome build. Looks great. I have been trying to get rid of my bump steer in mine. Gonna look into doing what you did on yours. |

Two very well built rigs. Excellent wheel choice BTW on the Wrexo as well as the Wraith. Let us know how the Wrexo performs.

| Re: My Blue Monkey IFS/Trailing Arm Wraith Semi Build Thread The steering pretty much is what it is. It's simple to get rid of the bump steer and get full lock to lock movement. At that point it steers like an exo. In my opinion it's not good enough for serious crawling but that isn't what I built this for. Outside of that it's pretty good. Suitable for u4rc I'd guess. I have no complaints.

Can you explain more what you did to get rid of the bump steer. I see pics of the old blue monkey kit and the steering arms that go out to the knuckles are angled back a lot. I believe the new blue monkey kit (which I have on the way to me) has adjustable slots to move the bellcranks forward. It looks like on the knuckles you added spacers, is there more to it? Thank you Jon |
