Look in Harley's 50$/Week Build Thread. He has a video that shows how to do it.

You cant really do anything to hurt plastic. I went with the second one I really dont like the look of the lowers. When I did mine I used 106mm solid tubes. pfft with trimming the excess look for my thread CapNSwagga's booty fab wraith. I never trimmed or did anything special and all my body and lid pieces still work fine.

It's pretty easy to do. Can't really screw anything up.
Take your time, Cut long and sand the ends back to round the edges.
You can make links like I did, or see what size fits point to point and add rod ends.

I even brazed on a tire mount to the new rails.

Here is a fast back with a twist. The previous owner heated the top of the cage so that he could mount a spare tire on it. The sides are still links.

My other one is a DMG Long Back Stiffy.

All of these options are great. However I was super stand offish with this mod. At the time I did it to both my wraiths, I found a dude on eBay that was making custom bent and channelled bars for it. It was simple to cut out what had to go and his bars were perfect length. If you haven't done the mod yet and your interested, pm me. I bought 4 sets of them because I knew they wouldn't be made long. At a minimum I can fire you a pic to see if you agree with the quality. I'm away from my rigs now or I'd just post one up. Sorry.

I'm interested in seeing your rig when you have time to post a pic.

Me as well. I did the fastback mod and used the stock lowers but I'm not super happy with the look. I was thinking of metal links but I want to see what you have on yours.

No rig picks because I'm planning a thread and I'm weird that way;). However I did find pics of the fast back bars I picked up on eBay. I've had a friend express interest in the one spare set I have so if you think these are cleaner than the other options, pm me. Don't know if u can see in the pic but not only are they the right length but there is a lot of material removed from the mounting points. This gives the plastic roll cage a clean place to butt up as you screw it together. Honesty being the best policy, it would be cheaper to find them yourself on eBay. He was super reasonable.

Ended up doing this mod and using the stock lowers for now. I'm happy with the way it looks, especially with the Dinky Drop Box.

The DMG doesn't have a web site. But if you search for
"The DMG" here at RC Crawler.com, you will find him. He has EXCELLENT customer service!

I honestly can't remember the vendor. I just searched Axial Wraith and I stumbled across them. All I can offer for info is he also made full cages for 100$. I wouldn't trust them with my driving (;) but the fast back bars are tough as hell

It's starting to grow on me more. I'm thinking metal links soon painted black.
