I want to put the heavy duty ring and pinion gears in my rig, if I go from stock 38/13t to 43/13t will that give me more wheel speed? What would guys recommend me doing? I'm running a 4000kv motor. Thanks |

Know how to divide? Divide 38/13 and divide 43/13 and which number is closer to 1? Or pretend your trying to figure out a spur gear and pinion gear relationship. With division. |

The 43/13 is an under drive gear...No..will slow down the wheels on the axle you put them on. 36/14 are the overdrive gears that would increase wheel speed. 38/13 is stock if its geared the same as an scx10 If you're looking to CRAWL only use the OD in the front and the UD in the rear. If you trail with your wraith chose either the OD for the front or the UD for the rear but not both. Or you can simply buy HD axial stock gear ratios. I would recomend running the 43/13 in the rear with the 36/14 in the front will give you a tighter turning radius and will help in some tight crawl spots. I run the 4000kv pro 4 on 3s with a 5/1 ration on the trans with the OD gears up front and UD gears in the rear not the best for going fast but it does help in crawling. Also if your upgrading your ring and pinion i would recomend new lockers front and rear the pro 4 is no joke and will destroy parts if your not light on the trigger.

Depending on how many cells you plan on running you might want to stay away from the OD gears. No matter how tight I shim them I can't get them to last on 4s.

Ya I think I'm gonna go with stock ratio heavy duty gears. Just blew up my tranny stock gears and put hot racing steel gears. Also bought hot racing steel lockers and mip drive shafts. Thanks for the info! |
