Lol. It's not. There's was talk of 1200 2100 kv hell I dunno. Lower kv higher voltage. |

So I am planning on running this in my 1.9 Ultra4 scx10 based rig. Currently in a test rig, with 4.6:1 gearing on 3s. Running it off a MMP. Mimicked an U4RC 8 minute heat at my local crawl spot. Took temps at the end of 9 minutes for good measure. At the pinion end of the can, it was roughly 155f, at the nonpinion end it was roughly 115f. So its currently under 160f...but the ultra4 rig will be heavier, have a metal drive train/dinky skid setup (limited to 5:1 or higher ratio) so in theory would add more strain on the motor right? Weird how big a temp difference it is, are the motors bearings spinning freely?

Yeah its brand new, I'll run a test again but the temps seem consistent with other peoples readings on this motor. The concern/question is its currently under 160f...but the ultra4 rig its going in will be heavier, have a metal drive train/dinky skid setup (limited to 5:1 or higher ratio) so in theory would add more strain on the motor right? |

We have quite a few people running these in u4 setups. They do run warmer than something like a ROC412, but there hasn't been a reported issue yet. The next batch underway is using ROAR illegal laminations (who cares about ROAR on here anyway) to bring the temps down so there will be a wider margin for gearing and rig weight.

Thanks for the reply John =) Will these newer 13.5 BL have more low end like the ROC412s? |

Well I'm still running this setup and it still seems to be working fine other than the heat. It hasn't shut itself down due to heat yet so thats a positive. its just kind of annoying to hear my MMP fan all the time lol. It still seems to eat batteries pretty quickly, but I'm still leading to that being that my batteries get ran in wet conditions and are not hard cased or waterproofed at all. i honestly don't know how they haven't dropped a cell. But anyways. It has on fact seemed to started to run smoother. Very very noticeably. Almost like i swapped motors. It has way smoother start up now and has increased its overall speed a lot and I've geared it down even slower than before. So I'm not sure what the deal is. I know motors and electronics can require break in periods, but in the past I've never seen that much of a difference. The only issue i have been having is that it will stall itself under a bind sometimes. which isn't bad because it stops me from frying my electronics, but if it gets even remotely hung up after being ran for a bit it will just shutdown for a second and then back to it. I still am really impressed with this motor and can't wait for the new version to come out John is working on. And ill most likely buy that one too. Maybe we can work out a trade in John lol ![]() |
