HR or RR either ones will be good. I have HR in mine and like them so far.

If they're the pin through style, they will last a long time. Loctite (blue) the screws that hold the outputs to the final drive gear in the transmission.

I run the hotracing tranny gears on pro 4 4000kv 2 & 3s lipo with a 12t pinion and 60t spur make sure to lubricate the gears and you should have no issues been beating on mine for over a year now gears are holding up great.

You can get a complete bombproof trans from Rick over at Supershafty.com It's a little pricey for the complete setup, but you wont have any issues with it. He also sells the parts individually, and has all the robinson racing / hot racing parts people have suggested above.

All my Axial trucks have the full HR steel gear sets in them. I really like them.
