Default MIP install question Kit 11116 (driveshafts)

Hey guys, I don't even have the body on my Wraith kit yet and I busted a read driveshaft bouncing in some rocks .

I see the MIP replacement is Kit 11116. I know for my Stampede the only had grub screws to clamp in onto the outputs. Looks like this kit also has grub screws. Is there any extra part number to get pins that go through the tranny output and not just clamp down on it or does it come with those and I'm just not seeing it correctly? or can the stock Axial threaded pins be used?

The grub screws you see in the pic are for holding the cross pins in the cvd joint. The screw shafts are for attaching the hubs onto the trans outs/axle ins. Yes you can keep using the stock screw shafts if you want, as these mip hubs are threaded m3. Which is a downgrade IMO and only god knows why they went that direction...

Stock Axial pins can be used for sure with that kit. The kit should also now come with them.

You beat me by 10 seconds...lol.

Yeah it sucks MIP use the M3 screw pins for this Wraith kit. I am disappointed in that part but bought some spare pins in case I break one. They are cheap in packs of 10.

I think some guys have tapped them to use M4 Traxxas pins? http://www.amain.com/product_info.ph...3mm-Screw-Pins

The old ax10/scx10 mips came m4 for years. Its not that they snap, its that using a 1.5mm driver to tighten something like this plain sucks.

Had to use the longer wraith hub in one setup I have and cringe every time it needs to be removed...

Thanks guys, ordered. So what breaks next? I already have a Super shaft top shaft, metal tranny gears, 32P pinion and RR slipper. I'm also running Motorworx wheels. So I guess it's be the ring and pinion if anything?

One other not so related issue. Seems that my hex's keep loosening up and I already lost one of the pins (that is slides over on the axel output). I used blue Locktite but it's happened a few times. Is this usual? Any upgrades here? Oh, and the Axial Hex has a flange on it making it not go as deep into the recess. I was fitting some Sandpaws on Desperatos for fun and the hex didn't even seat deep enough to grab.

VP makes clamping style hexes. I have never used them but they could be good. http://www.vanquishproducts.com/12clhexhu.html

I know what you mean about the flange, kind of sucks for custom wheels like Mayhem's. I have not had my hexes come loose with blue loctite.

Yeah your stock ring and pinion should be upgraded to the Axial Heavy Duty.

Edited version.......Mayhem rims fit perfectly on Axial hexes, I was thinking of my RC4WD hex conversion kit for the Tamiya Bruiser. They are flat hexes and the Mayhem rims actually have the nice flange hole/divet on the back of the hubs.
