| new wraith owner!! have questions.
hello all, i just picked up a slightly used wraith. it is completly stock it was the RTR version. i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as far as easy, cheap, and first upgrades, im kinda new at the surface RC stuff i put together a TF2 a few months and im going to steal my ESC and reciever from it. those are a spektrum 3 CH and a HH BRXL. i was wondering if the stock axial 20T is worth keeping or should i use my HH 35T? also i will be using an SPC 5000mah 50C 2S battery. if anyone reccomends something different let me know. also i want this to be more of a crawler rig than a speed racer/basher rig. thanks for any input and help. |

Prepare for fun! ;) For crawling/trailing, a 45T is great. I've got a 55T, and it's walking speed+ (brushed) imo, you really don't need brushless if you don't want a lot of wheelspeed. Put all electronics under the hood, ink. the battery. Search "wraith battery mod", and you will find many how to's. 5000mAh will last a long time. I got a couple of nano-tech 2S 5.3's, and can play for hours.. |

Plan on upgrading/replacing the stock servo. Mine was done in about 2-3 hours worth of driving time. The stock motor will burn up pretty quick as well. I would just throw in the other one you have. X2 on the battery forward mod. I moved my esc to the back, kept the receiver up front. Last edited by KBR97; 06-04-2014 at 03:50 PM. |

yea i already have it stripped down and the stock motor had already burnt up. and ive cut and mocked up for the battery forward mod and so far i have a solar d772 servo and interco 2.2 boggers i will be using a set of stock tamiya cr-01 beadlocks for now. ans if i run my 35T motor what gearing would be best. the 2.2 boggers are like 5.5 or 5.7" tall. and would yall recommend the shock mount flip to lower it? thanks for the help

Brushed is so 1980s and is slowly being weeded out of the Rc hobby. If your on tight budget out runner 900 kV motors are freaking smooth. 15 bucks for a ntm prop drive 900 kV brush less out runner with 800 watts. That's enough power to break some stock drive lines. Did I mention smoooooth |

Read Harleys Wraith beginners guide...mulitple times! Just his portion of the thread will tell you all you need to know. Personally the first thing I would do is get a VP 10 piece link kit and a really good servo. As for motor, the HH 35t would be a good choice, I run a HH 27t in mine on 3s.

Please don't spend $100 on VP links. Not without considering other options. I use Traxxas Revo steel pushrods. They are cheap and super strong, and they come with the same rod ends the VP links use. Here are the bottom links. Perfect length right out of the bag. All you need to do is shave the inside of the skid plate so the rod ends won't bind... You'll see what I mean if/when you install them. BuyTraxxas The uppers I used are slightly more work, but still super cheap and strong. I use these with Jato rod ends on one side and bent to match the stock uppers. BuyTraxxas I have run my Wraith really hard with aluminum axles and these links have been flawless. I do like the VP titanium steering tie rod as I bent my homemade attempts. I would also recommend Hot Racing steel transmission gears and replace all chub/knuckle/rear lockout screws with fine 3mm thread bolts before you even run it. I'm running a solar d772 servo any recommendations on servo horns for that servo? I'm think an axial 23T horn. Idk if it worked but I tried uploading some pics! Metal servo arm for under 4 bucks. Throw in a 3s 2200 and you be about the same price as just a protect arm. I've got about a year run time on this arm I'd fill sick to my stomach if I spent 15 on this part, but then some might be sick to they're stomach running purple.
