Default axial rod end upgrade

i have the axial stage 2 link kit and with the plastic rod ends and balls it has so much play after just a few runs. its pretty bad now after being a couple months. do anyone know of any upgraded rod ends that will last a lot longer? i know i could put metal balls in them but i think id have to replace all the ends because they seem to be worn out

I would upgrade to some links that use revo rod ends. R2J makes some nice links.

You can swap in some traxxas e/t maxx link ends or drill and tap the links you have to 4mm or 8/32 and use revo ends. If you're not having breakage issues with the smaller link ends swapping in some maxx ends is certainly the most cost effective choice.

have not broken any link ends but the amount of play is rather annoying

If you're using aluminum links with rod ends threaded on with long set screws, take the rod ends off and screw the set screw into the rod end until it tightens up on the ball a little. There you go, tightened up for free. I've done this for years. Works even better if you use the steel balls instead of plastic... Or rather it will last longer.

as others have mentioned, the vp links, and a few others make some that all use way better ends. i replaced the ends on my axial links the first time and put metal balls in. that only made them worse. gotta go with a revo or jato end. been running mine now with the vp links well over a year and they are all still tight.
