Default Tenergy TB6-B 50W Balancing Charger any good?

Just bought a poison spyder wraith and need a charger and some batteries. Is this charger any good? Price is around $44 which I like. Still trying to decide weather or not to do lipo or other.

You will probably get a lot more responses to electronics questions in the electronics section.

i have that charger and it works great and has many functions. the $40 version does not come with a wall plug, you will have to run it off 12v

I converted a computer power supply into a charger power supply. Most chargers that plug into wall max out at 5amps. This leaves you slow charging a lot of batteries.

A 3300 mah lipo with a 4c charge rating means you can charge it safely at 13.2 amps.
I'd problem bump down to 8 or 10 amps so I wasn't charging right at its max rating.

Chargers and battery charging is a hard subject to grasp. I'd recommend doing a lot of research on lipo charging before buying a charger.

I love being able to hook my 12v charger to my truck battery. This is so awesome when at the flying field or out crawling in the desert.

Yeah there are so many options out there I am trying to do research on them. My wraith will be here this week so I want to order something soon. There are some hobby shops by me but I figure its probably cheaper to buy online. Although I do like to support them at the same time.

I agree that charging at 5a/50w gets old quick. Buying a 30a/1000w charger is one of the best investments I have ever made. I wish I had done it sooner.

Yes until you have a real charger it's almost like your viewing the hobby from the outside.

Power supply

Passport lipo charger on ebay. 1st left. I think these run off 110 wall current and 12volts. I know a few people with these and they like them. Hobby stores stock them. 90 bucks new.

I second the converted computer PSU. I can help you out with that if need be. PM me.

This is the charger I use.

Radio Control Planes, Helicopters, Cars, Boats, FPV and Quadcopters - Hobbyking*
Only 10 amps but more that enough for my needs. I don't run more than 3s batts.

I also only use a 10 amp charger.

My computer power supply will barely drive the charger at 10 amps. On my truck battery at 14 volts it runs all day at 10amps. Mines the old turnigy 200watt. I've been using it for 3 or 4 year's

Here's my setup.
Less then 70 in the charger and power supply

I almost run all turnigy and have never had any problems. They work awesome and cost less then half of whatever the hobby store stocks. This little pile of turnigy batteries would cost a ton if bought local.
Hobbyking has made it so that I can almost afford to be in the hobby

I'll third (or whatever we're at) using modded computer power supplies. I'm using two 1200w server power supplies wired in series for 24v @ 1200w. The server power supplies are really heavy duty since they're made to stay on 24h a day. I think I paid $20 each for them.
