| Titanium Servo horn
I run the Hitec 7955 with titanium gears, and I need to know if anyone has come out with these yet. I've now blown out a third "HD" servo horn. Aluminum vs. Titanium. Titanium wins forever. Somebody make these please. Whoever does would sell tons. Anyone have ideas?

You wont need it if every side screw is nice and tight on that clamp style servo horn.

Sounds good on paper, but this isn't my first rodeo. All screws are tightened with a ratchet and all screws have been red loctited. The 7955 has over 600 oz of torque at my settings. Aluminum loses to titanium always, hence the need for a titanium servo horn. Thanks for your input. I just check all screws on the horn and they are so tight that my tool visibly twists. With the servo at full lock, I can move the horn. The aluminum is blown out again

Well, my servo only puts out 370oz., but I don't go jumping the thing or going full throttle over rocks. I use it as it's designed for. Maybe you're driving it too hard?

My wraith gets jumped, cartwheeled and crashed at over 25mph. Never any problems using racers edge horns.

Just a thought...what if you were to mask off the servo and add a dab of epoxy to the horn making sure it doesn't ooze on the servo gears? That or place the horn on the servo and tighten as tight as can be done without breaking the screws then use a compressed air can to blast the horn making it turn frosty which will constrict the aluminum further than tighten the screws some more....lol....this is my attempt at metallurgy Another thought...perhaps replacing the servo gear and horn at the same time. Perhaps the splines are misshapen or the gear is defective ie out of round or tapered somehow which is causing the horn to malfunction. I'm not doubting the fact that you can just be to rough but you would think there would be a plethora of threads about the issues you're having. Also you would think that there's a titanium servo horn already in existence. Last edited by btango05; 07-18-2014 at 10:39 PM. |

I had this same issue on my super. The solution was to get a NON clamping style servo horn. The clamping style just opens the door for failure.

Just a basic Hitec double arm that I cut one side off of. There are a couple of other options in a thread I started. I also go the AirWild horns and they are very nice. Long NON clamping servo horn The ones I like best Hitec HRC55702 |

Here I figured clamping would be the way to go. I guess they are just a waste of money for hardcore guys. I have been lucky with all of my Axial clamping horns so far. Crossing my fingers for continued luck. |
