| over under question
I'm putting Grip Fab lockers on my Wraith axles and it was suggested to me by several people to put heavy duty gears in which makes sense. (Thanks ZippoMan, grscivic, HDMM and Cronk) My question is what is the advantage of over-under gearing and is it a good idea. And if the gears are 38-13 and 36-14 am I correct in thinking that the 38-13 would go in the front axle. Thanks for the help.

No I will jump in here and say that the lower the gears are in the rear the better dig effect you have in the rocks.

It depends on what your doing with it, crawling & trailing go under/overs, helps with steering & climbing. Fast running U4 style seems most guys run run the same ratio front & rear to avoid drive line bind, a lot look to be running the underdrive set both ends they have the deepest gear mesh & strongest tooth profile.
