Wraith bomb proofing trans help

I just got a ROC412 and a MMP. I want to build a trans that will hold up. I don't see any available from SS. Is there a link or recommended parts list?
New to this stuff.
Thanks

Robinson Racing Products - Products and Pricing for Axial Wraith

Get parts 1551 and 1555 and you're good to go

Re: Wraith bomb proofing trans help

most parts on ss are in stock for a bombproof tranny....weather it be a wraith style or scx10 style with extended outputs....for a list of what you need go look on ss website click what bombproof tranny you want weather it be wraith or scx with extended outputs and scroll to the description part under the pic there will be a full list of what you need and expect to spend about $200 or so on it all....rpp usually carrys parts if ss dont have them as long as there not the ss exlusive parts....just throwing a set of gears wont help for most peoples driving

From the SS site you should be able to see what he puts in.
  • Aluminum case - either Hot Racing or Vanquish
  • Hot racing hard steel gear set (I like these over RRP)
  • 6mm outputs from SS
  • Top shaft from SS
  • HD motor plate from SS
  • RRP Gen 3 Slash 2wd slipper/spur 56t
The idler gear shaft will have to come from your stock trans and would be a good idea to throw in new bearings in the whole thing.

Due to the 6mm outputs, you'll either need to get the 6mm ends for a set of MIPs or go with 6mm Traxxas maxx shafts (6mm on trans side, 5mm on axle side)

Re: Wraith bomb proofing trans help

There are many ways to build a "bomb proof" transmission. Here is the parts list from mine.
hot racing aluminum trans case for scx10
Hot racing steel internal gears
hot racing steel 57t 32p spur
locked up rc slipper eliminator kit
S S 6mm extended bomb proof outputs
BWD foff motor plate

So far its taken everything I can throw at it, and im running a pretty potent motor combo

I don't think I've ever heard that before... may I ask why you prefer HR to RRP?

Re: Wraith bomb proofing trans help

SS has one of the bomb proof transmissions in stock with the 5mm outputs, I just ordered one and they show another one available. I really dont see the need for the 6mm outputs, at lease for me, Im currently running the same motor/esc as you and have been runnung the stock trans with the Axial metal gears and the RR 80T slipper unit without any issues. I bought the SS bomb proof trans not because I had any problems but I like to have drop in spares in my box, and I wanted to switch over to 32p gears. If for some reason I have an issue with the 5mm output I can always get the 6mm output and drop it in.

Price is part of it. Also I've run 3 sets of hr gears with up to 1/8 power and no issues. The one set of rrp internal gears I've had too tight of gear mesh and the trans didn't spin freely. This was in a vanquish case. Switched out the idler and top gear to hr and it worked like normal.

Just don't see the need to spend the extra $
