Axial motor faster backwards

So i just bought my first rc and its an axial wraith. I have been driving it a lot and it goes way faster backward than forward. I cant figure out why. Anyone have any ideas why this is? Also when u try to turn it comes to a crawl and is very slow.
Thanks

Try adjusting the throttle trim on the remote. It should be labeled TH trim. I have no clue about the steering, a bec might help. Maybe something is defective?

Center the throttle trim, recalibrate the radio to the esc, and see if that helps. If not, reverse your throttle on the radio, and reverse the motor wires, then recalibrate again

Also, when calibrating, make sure when the esc is looking for forward you are holding forward and vice versa

I tried messing with the trim but that doesn't seem to help at all. Is it possible to burn out the forward part of the motor and not the rear part?

How do I reverse the throttle?

nharkey85 09-14-2014 08:28 PM

What radio are you using? Does it have a lcd screen or just knobs and buttons?

It could be a manual switch somewhere , or a setting in a digital menu. Usually gets called servo reversing, you'll just need the one for throttle or channel 2

Not so sure about it getting slow when turning. I mean it is locked 4wd so when turning all 4 tires are fighting each other, but it shouldnt be drastically slower

Flip the diffs and reverse the motor wires

Re: Axial motor faster backwards

No need to flip the diffs... Like said earlier swap positive/negative wires going to the motor and reverse the throttle channel.

The fact that this is your first rc and your using the traxxas tx makes me think its the kit or you bought it used. If either of those are true check the timing of the motor.

I too have noticed mine is faster in reverse. Mine is a RTR i just got a couple of weeks ago. I wondered why but planned on replacing the motor soon anyways to make it more crawler friendly.

Which Wraith? The origional had reverse motors. The poison spider seems to have regular rotation motors.

Mine is just the regular wraith RTR.

Re: Axial motor faster backwards

I put a hobby wing in my sons racer and had the same issue. It took a few tries but all i had to do is change the three wires around until it worked right. Ended up having to leave the ground and switching the other two. Now if only i could figure out why the esc light turns green and wont spin the motor when brakes/ reverse is applied. I have to shut the esc off and back on to go again.
