I think he means, do you have stock RTR dog bones, Axial universals, Vanquish VVDs? I'm assuming since you said stock it's either dog bones or axial universals. If you started with an RTR and have the dogbones, then that's what you need to upgrade. It'll help a lot

Axial universals, Vanquish links, Savöx 1231SG servo. I do have beef tubes.

Yep, started w/rtr. How do the axail universals compare to the vanquish VVD's? I have a panhard and a savox SA 1230 SG. Should I loose the panhard? |

The vanquish VVDs might be marginally stronger but the axial universals are very good and quite a bit cheaper. Plus, someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Axials actually give a slightly better turn angle.

You can also get much more steering out of the Axial Unis if you take a dremel to them- I think it's a mod done by Dlux.

| Re: confused. How to get the most steering. Yeah, I've heard very mixed opinions about which is stronger which is why I said "might be" and the price gap is smaller than it used to be now that the vanquish are $65 for the V1. I don't really know about the V2. Supposedly they are quite a bit stronger and have a better steering angle but they are closer to $100 a pair. At twice the price of the Axial uni I can't imagine its worth it. Anyway, all I can say for sure is the Axial universals are very good and I wouldn't say they were a compromise compared to the vanquish at all! Unless of course you're going for the bling factor in which case I suppose Vanquish wins! |

I totally agree with you. The V1 VVDs had a bad stub shaft bell design. They basically would explode if they were pushed too hard or were in too harsh of conditions. Not all have experienced this, however. I can't say anything about the V2s, but honestly they aren't worth it when you compare them to the $40 competition. Having a Wraith hybrid with a 5.5T sensored motor, a VERY heavy finger and 5.70" O.D. TTCs, all of my trust goes into the Axial Universals.

| Re: confused. How to get the most steering. where do you grind off materiel on the axial uni to add more steering? one thing i done was cut off the rear stops on the knuckles which added more steering so much so i had to back off the servo it was causing a bind in the uni's

| Re: confused. How to get the most steering. I used the universals in the kit. Vanquish hacker arms, vanquish knuckles and chubs and the steering link for the extended Ackerman arms. Very happy with the result.

Thanks. What is your opinion on the p/h? Does it hinder steering in anyway? I bought this Wraith off here and this was already installed. Cannot compress the suspension all the way with out it limiting the articulation.

Slightly grind off material at the base of the universal ears. So that when you spin and cycle the universal, no part of the ear touches another part of the joint. However, if you have taken off the steering stop on the knuckle and is causing binding, that's probably the maximum that you can do. Go anymore and it wont matter what axle shaft you use, it'll be a time bomb waiting to go off. Everything has its limit. I'm still trying to find the pictures to better show what I'm talking about. panhard/cms setup is pretty much just for scale points/looks. You will get better (non-scasle) performance with the servo on the axle... |
