It seems good in theory.

But if I want portals, I want them done right, with at least 1.5:1 reduction, and the gear reduction AFTER the axle steering joint.

Did I miss any mention of the maximum steering angle?

Some people can't be pleased, can they?

If you want something that special, then YOU buy the tooling, machines and design software and go make it.

Give them time, if there is that much demand, I'm sure they'll make a kit. It's only two same length axle shafts.

Both the male and female bits are splined, they may work. Best to ask the source though.

Correct. Everything sucks, all the time, especially on the Internet.

I thought the d44s had their proprietary chubs?

I do like that the portal is mounted to the axle. Although there would be some strength advantage having the UV joint before the reduction, since there are 1:1 ratio they made the right choice to reduce scrub radius.

Pretty cool bit of kit.

I don't recall them being different. I had the D44 knuckles and chubs on a Wraith axle that turned into those custom axles.

The D44 tube doesn't have a continual spline on the male side, rather, just the few to help with the castor adjustment.

I think the portal would put too much stress in plastic axle housing. You might want to step up to aluminum diff housings.

That would be awesome if they do! Now more money into my build!

No more than VP C-hub s and knuckles attached to a Wraith axle or the 3Racing AX10 portals attached to stock c-hubs.

I'm sure that these RC4WD weren't designed for a lot of drivetrain stress (the gears appear to be small); it would just be another thing to break if you tried. Brushed motor crawler or scaler would be best.

These would be sweet upside and with street tires for a wraith drag racer.
