| Lowering CG and Suspension Questions
I have a Wraith kit that is basically stock. I've noticed that I need to lower the center of gravity since it has a tendency to tip over while turning at higher speeds. I've got it set up more as a trail runner/basher than a strict rock crawler. I'm going to do the front mounted battery mod and that will help but I was also looking into lowering it a bit. Is the droop kit recommended or would shorter shocks do the same trick? I'm running the stock Axial shocks but with the Axial aluminum shock bodies. I've tried searching but can't find a write up on the droop kit.

Thanks wiz, do you run stock length shocks? I can't see them in the pic

Yeah. Just the bog standard that came with it. I like the lower links to be almost parallel to the chassis. The Level 3 kit allows for many options to suit all though. |

Cool, I saw someone mention flipping the shock mounts. Do you need to do that with the droop kit?

Mine are still flipped from prior to adding the kit. Personally I would not. They are at a more obstructive angle when flipped. Should really put mine back!

Did you do the panhard conversion too?

On a Wraith I had a few years ago I had the VP panhard. I must admit I never liked the panhard setup. I prefer the on axle servo as it just works better IMO.

Flip shock mounts and move battery up front asap. You will see extremely better results. I'm also lowering mine more as well. But that free mod was a huge difference. In have pan hard and wont go back but might not have gotten if known better prior.

I run Level3 kit with Traxxas Bigbores XXL and Axial purple springs, 30wt oil and linkmounts not flipped. Couldn't be happier. Sits as low as I want, links paralell with the skid. For the price nothing beats the Bigbores. Very good and durable shocks. I also recommend moving the battery up front.

Thanks for the replies jwall and Odd-M! I'm definitely moving the battery up front and I put in an order for the Level 3 kit. I think I'm going to stick with the stock shocks for now and see how that works. I'm still not sure about the mounts but I think I'm going to leave them alone for now.

I flipped the shock mounts along with using scx10 shocks. Even better yet...

On a related note, does anyone know if the AX30111 Axial Aluminum Shock Cap are compatible with the AX30120 Axial Aluminum Shock body 12x47.5mm? In the compatibility section on the Axial site it lists the Wraith kit. I'm assuming that they are compatible since the aluminum shock bodies replaces the stock plastic ones.
