Default Newbie steering servo question...

I picked up a second hand Wraith online (first crawler, long time 1/18 buggy/monster truck guy). Lots had been modded on it already but it also contained full stock parts separately so I was comfortable buying it.

I have noticed that my Wraith has a different steering servo setup to most Wraith's I seen though.
Mine has the steering server attached to the frame rather than the axle and also has a secondary arm going from the axle to the frame, sort of a stabilising arm I figure.

What is this steering setup? I don't see it documented any where.
Is it better or worse than an axle mounter steering servo?

Thanks for any help!
