| Motor esc connection
The connection between esc and motor looks a little burnt up. Could I just solder on some deans connectors or is there a bigger issue causing this? When I turn on the rig I get steering but no forward or back. |

For brushed motors use WS Dean's but configure them so that you can plug the motor directly to the battery pack.

If you go brushless use the barrel connectors

It's brushed. I'll put some deans on there and see if that helps. I'm getting no lights on my esc and it's the stock wraith motor. It might just be a burned up motor?

I had a problem similar to this once before but the connectors didn't look burnt like your's. My black wire that connects the esc to the motor would smoke if I applied any gas, I didn't have any forward or reverse, but the steering still worked. Turns out the motor was just blown. I would replace the motor and see if that solves anything. Good luck, bro. |

The black is due to arcing.... The connection is poor, that's all... Some needle nose pliers and tighten the female plug a bit will solve the problem

Use 4mm bullets, it's what comes standard with the BRXL and is the minimum needed for motor connections imo

For brushed motors I always used Dean's Ultra Plugs and 12awg wire, for brushless 540's and 550's I'm using 3.5mm bullets with 12awg wires. Been just over two years on the 3.5mm and haven't had a problem in my short course (2wd and 4x4) or stadium trucks running on 2S and 3S. Haven't had chance to run the 3.5mm on a crawler yet, still in the early stages of building it, but I don't expect them to be a problem with the Sonic or LRP brushless motors plan to use.

High resistance, cut the wires and solder.

I agree that soldering directly is the best method but if you tear your rig down often to clean it and maintain it then I would recommend deans connectors for brushed systems (what I use) and the 4mm bullets for a brushless system.

It also helps with deans if you tend to switch out motors often depending on terrain. I only have one motor but have deans for if I pick up another, all I have to do is unplug and plop it in.

Cut the connectors off solder directly to the motor , but motor could be fried.
