Default Locker slop cause?

Hello folks.

I'm due to do some axle hop-ups (Casings - Birthday Present) shortly and I'm aware that there is a lot of slop in the front locker. I cant afford to replace the lockers at the mo.

What is the normal cause of this? Is it the locker spinning a little in the plastic cup? Or the locker wearing where the shafts enter?

I know I will find out once I open them up but I was just thinking if it is due to the cup could I just fill em with glue or something else to secure it till they can be replaced?

Thanks.

Hard to say without opening it up, but it could be either one. Could even be one of the pins has broken off the locker, that would also cause some slop in the diff assembly.

Thanks Eric. I just wondered if there was a common fault. I know people with high powered systems can bust the locker in half but I wouldn't think that would happen with my setup/use.

The factory lockers have slop in them just due to the way they are manufactured. When the axle shaft slides into it, there is enough play for it to rotate a little inside that metal piece. If you want to get rid of it, get some FI Spools. They have almost no play at all.

The play has become worse in the Front Locker.

I like the FI spools, just need to find some in stock. See a few in aluminum alloy, would prefer steel though.

I intend to put some VP lockers in at some point. I was just curious. The lockers in my SCX10 have been like that for a long time and still battle on.
