Default Wraith motor upgrade (brushed) help

Ok I've done some poking around here and still trying to decide what motor to go with. I have a stock drive line in my poison spyder wraith, what are some suggestions on a good motor for the stock wraith gearing? I've looked on ebay etc and find lots of brands models etc....looking to be on budget under $50 want to see what you guys say would be best bang for my buck. I do crawling and trail driving but nothing to crazy.

Hello, don't they come with a 20 turn?i know my ax10 deadbolt
did, I just got. I was already thinking about putting a hpi 15 turn firebolt
in it, or a 15 turn from a arrma granite.they both have internal fans and are somewhat waterproof. just a suggestion thou.

Yep Holmes, Team Brood, and Tekin top 3 in my book. But I still tend to lean towards Holmes just really like his products.

ill dig into turnigy motors for you . i run a 2100kv 1/8 scale motor, i think its one of the best cheap all around motors if your willing to run 2-4s lipos it cost 50 bucks but will also require a 120-150 amp esc to be 4s capable motor will also run on 5-6s but is wicked out of control with that much speed and power

I run a RC4wd 35t in my SCX10. Cheaply built but it has lasted a long time and runs well. I imagine it would handle as well in the Wraith. They way almost the same. (My rigs weigh the same - Stock may be different).

Stock weight between the Wraith and SCX10 is about 1.5-lbs difference depending on specific models compared. Taller tires will also change the overall roll-out ratio plus the added mass of the larger tires in the drivetrain. Thai's why I'm not even looking at the average 540's or 48 pitch gears for the Wraith, I'm going to run a 550 or one of the high output 4-pole 540's (Tekin Pro4, Reedy 544, etc.) and 32P gears.

The Dingo is getting a 540, just not sure which one yet.

Specs:
Size:*4270
RPM/v:*2100kv*
Poles:*4
Sensored:*Yes*(Standard 6 pin harness)
Max voltage:*15V (4S)
Max Current:*140A
Max Watts:*2100W
Resistance:*0.007ohm
Shaft Size:*5mm
Can Diameter:*42mm
Can Length:*70mm
Weight:*329g

Does that fit? 42mm dia. x 70mm length.
Also does running 2s or 3s reduce Max.current?
I was looking at the 550 5.5t 3700kv.

Not without some mods or other changes, the Reedy 550-SL barely fits in the Wraith and will need some trimming on the skid plate for full range of pinion adjustment. The Reedy is 36x55mm. Not really seeing a 42x70mm or any other 1/8 scale motor going in without some mods.

I'll snap a quick picture or two and show you what I mean by trimming with the short 550. The Turnigy 550 will have some clearance issues too.

Pics would he great. How about the ESC? Can a low current ESC (say 80amps) he paired wit a motor links that? Or will it go op in smoke?

An 80amp ESC is a little weak for 550, but I believe the RtR ESC with the ProLite/ProSD from Associated is just 90amps and it's hooked up to the 3500kV 550-SL. So 80 amps in a crawler my not be too bad. But I would recommend 120amps or more for a 550.

Here you can see the short can Reedy hitting the upper suspension mount on the skid plate in the first two shots. The third is all the pinion adjustments I can get with everything stock. Raising the transmission a little with some spacers/washers would help, but I would prefer to keep it planted.

Barely fits but takes mods. Fits best with 58-60 spur

Raising the tr any helps it alot.

I've been to a few scale comps and everyone asks what motor it is cause it runs with the high dollar stuff. It's not sensored but slows down and crawls very good and seems to run way cooler then the higher kv sensored stuff.

2s greatlyrics reduces voltage listed specs are on 4s. My motor actually is difrent it's rated at 5s and has no sensore.
