| Will a Yeti motor/esc bolt directly to the Wraith?
I want to make the swap but concerned about fitment to the Wraith transmission. Any input would be helpful ! |

Will fit the transmission just fine but it will probably interfere with the rear link mount. That can be trimmed, or the tranny can be raised to clear.

That motor is a little too long for the Wraith (63mm), you could make it fit but you'll need to make some changes. The motor pictured below is just 55mm long and the skid plate had to be trimmed to get it in there. With a 63mm motor you'll probably have to raise the transmission up 5-10mm and trim the link mount on the skid plate. |

| Re: Will a Yeti motor/esc bolt directly to the Wraith? No it won't, the Yeti motor is 36mm diameter x 63.5mm long. Read above and look at the picture posted. My Pro4 HD (62.5mm long) wouldn't even mate up to the motor plate, let alone get a motor screw started. They're just too long, changes and fitting/trimming are needed to get something that long in there.

Thanks for the info guys! Can I use the Wraiths same spur gear and motor pinion gear? Or would you recommend something different? I have 3 wraiths all built from kits and want to have one with alot of speed! |

If you're looking to put some power in the Wraith you'll probably need 32p gears. Especially if you're thinking of a motor like the Yeti motor. The motor above is a Reedy 3500kV 550-SL and I would never run 48 pitch with it, it's just a lot of torque and the smaller 48p teeth can't handle the load.

| Re: Will a Yeti motor/esc bolt directly to the Wraith? No problem. That Yeti motor is your typical 550 sized, most are usually around 63mm long give or take a couple of mm. The Reedy seen above is little shorter than average at 55mm and there are a few others in that range. Seems the Wraith was designed around the brushed 540's and 550's since they're generally 53-55mm long and have a tapered brush-hood or endbell that can clear the right rear link mount. |

| Re: Will a Yeti motor/esc bolt directly to the Wraith? I'm guessing a lot of decisions other people make are "beyond" you. If you truly want to know go read the my other posts on the subject. Until then you're welcome to sit there in bewilderment with your jaw drooped open, try not to get too much spittle on your keyboard. |

I had the same goal and through some trial and error (breakage) think I have things boiled down to a really decent/fun set up. My recipe: Tekin RX8 ESC Tekin roc412 3100kv 32p spur/pinion delrin gears 56/14 - 4:1 ratio Metal tranny gears - all three Jun-Fac drivelines CVD front axle shafts It's very versatile and can be run on 2s/3s and/or 4s 2s maxes out @ 11.6mph so it's already faster than stock. 3s maxes out @ 16.4mph and is how I normally bash with it. 4s maxes out @ 20.3mph! I've also lowered it which makes a big difference for higher speed handling. Also changed out the Ripsaws for a set of stock Gmade R1 wheels/tires that allow for some side slippage. The Ripsaws are great tires but they make it flip super easy at speed as to where the R1 tires slide (drift) Last edited by vtlandcruiser; 01-21-2015 at 05:23 AM. | |
