| STRC Chubs and Knuckle problems
Anyone use these? I got a set of Chubs and Knucks at the local hobby shop.. I have ran 6 packs through them and have had nothing but problems. The Knuckles wouldnt take a bearing without sanding down for the larger bearing to fit. The Chubs were really poor fit. I wrapped the axle tubes in a bunch of white plumbers thread tape and they were really tight so i figured it would be good. I have now ran 5-6 packs through it and they are flopping all over, have wobbled out al 4 screws in the axles tubes which i re drilled at the other end of the slot tonight. I am not happy and now I need new axle tubes and im not sure what to put back on for chubs. The stock plastics fit was super tight and the splines were perfect when i pulled them off. Just wondering if I got some bad parts or if others have had this same problem. |

I use them without any issues at all.... I also installed beef tubes to stop the plastic from stripping out at the mounting holes

I use that setup. My tubes came factory stripped so I drilled and threw in some brass inserts and m3x.5 screws I picked up from McMaster and now my chubs are tight. Let me know if you need a link. I did have to grind the inserts a touch to clear the axle shafts.

I use to use them before i went to vp axels. I didnt have any issues getting bearings in like ive read, fit was around the same as my vp chubs. Ive now changed to vp scale clamping chubs and would never recommend anything else! Hope they make a clamping style rear lock out.

I have STRC chubs and knuckles (along with other STRC parts) on three of my Axial rigs. Have had no issues with them. Yes the bearings are a pain to get in but I've never had to modify them. I use thread locker on the screws to keep them from backing out. I also have Vanquish products on all three of my rigs. In my opinion STRC products are middle of the road price and when installed properly work just fine.

well now that the bearings are in i have no problem with the knuckles, I am thinking beef tubes since I am not going to constantly be replacing the plastic housings. I could not believe the amount of slop in the chubs though it was ridiculous. Can you post up a link to those inserts |

| Re: STRC Chubs and Knuckle problems I have been using STRC c-hubs, knuckles, and lockouts on my Vanquish aluminum axle housings. C-hubs have a lose fit but no issues, only problem I have is the c-hub screws back out even with blue locktite. I just check them after every run and snug them back down. I have a 11# wraith that needs to go on a diet lol...... |

| Re: STRC Chubs and Knuckle problems McMaster-Carr I used the slotted with flange, you'll need to drill out a 4mm hole for them but they have held up great for me. Then you are good to use m3 screws. Here's the direct link: http://www.mcmaster.com/#94510a030/=vpro3s Last edited by COwraith; 01-31-2015 at 11:49 PM. Reason: Forgot direct link |
