| Servo binding on frame
I am finishing up my first wraith build and have come across an issue. For some reason and I can't figure out why my HH HV400 servo is binding on my frame when the drivers side tire is raised. It binds and stops the shock from compressing. I've looked at it and can't figure out why. Is this a unique issue?

See if your servo horn is bumping the bumper. When I added the STRC upper links it tilted my axle forward just a little and the servo horn was making contact with the lower bumper rail (section with the two larger lights attached).

Unfortunately it is hitting the side, not the front.

Can you post a picture, sometimes that is easier to help figure out the problem.

It sounds like the servo may be a little too wide, but the published specs are right with most standard size servos. I'm looking at mine and seems to have a ridiculous amount of room for the servo with each tires raised separately and with both tires raised together. But I'm running different shocks and may not have the same up or down travel you're getting As R2j said, if you're able to post a picture or two it might help. |

Is the holmes servo wider than stock? I didn't bother to check since I use a cms with mine.

Looking at the picture your servo is in almost the exact same place mine is, but the Holmes Hobby looks little bigger than the TSX55 I'm using and the mounting tabs are certainly bigger. When I completely compress the drivers side first, then work the passenger side up to meet it, I get a slight bump from the same rail you're hitting. My mounting tabs are smaller so it's not much of an issue, just a light bump on the up travel. You may be able to file down the mounting tab on the servo for clearance if you're willing to take a file to a $90 servo. If you could shift the servo to the left a little it may also clear and you won't have to file the servo. You'll probably need to file the driver side hole in the servo plate to get it to shift and there's not much of the plate to work with. I would start by loosening all the mounting screws some, push and hold the servo towards the drivers side then snug them back down. You may get enough room to clear. If that doesn't get you the space you need you may have to file the servo or look for something smaller. According to the specs from Holmes it's supposed to be about the same size as a standard servo, actual size will vary of course and it does look bigger than the TSX55 I'm currently using. |

I think the Dinky S Link would do the job, might have to find a new steering link with the servo mounted lower and to the passenger side or your current link may swap to the passenger side (mine's on the driver side). | |

I might just sell the servo and go in a different direction.

flip it upside down, i bet the links are not allowing the servo to center between the frame rails, had the same issue, I put R2J links on it and adjusted the lengths to center the servo...wheel base was spot on on both sides after I was done...

Are you using a lowering kit ? I'm running a lowering kit, proline shocks and a hitec servo. Mine just barely touch's the frame rails on both sides |

The Dinky bracket will take care of the problem. I have one on my Wraith and only run 93mm shocks. It will not only alleviate the problem of the servo hitting the chassis but it also acts a reinforcing truss, tying the axle together with all the mounting points. |

You might want to try the lowering kit first. I have 93mm shocks, no lowering kit, and the servo starts even with the frame rails. There's no way it can get stuck underneath. |
