Default EighteenZero8 replacement axles

I was really bothered by the options for the driveshaft driven cars that are out right now. I love to have parts that are bulletproof and low to no maintenance. Shaft options were always a plaguing problem for these cars and I wanted to address that. So, without further adieu, I present the EighteenZero8 line of axles by DluxFab.
These axles will be sold in RTR condition. Please check the vendors section for pricing.

I started off with the really cool VP Currie center sections. As many know, there is one big problem with these and that is the pinion bearings. The standard size 11mm bearings fail instantly. Not only do you have to constantly replace bearings but it also puts your ring and pinion at risk of being stripped. This is the only thing I felt that needed to be address. Add in the 13mm bearing and these centers are good to go.

Big bearing right, stock small bearing left

Now that you have a great looking and functional center section, you need to add tubes. This is where you might want to pay attention as the options will start building from here.

Front are both going in production made for AX10 chubs or Wraith chubs. AX10 chubs are my preferred chub so that’s what went into testing.

Rear offset, rear centered are going in production.

The rear needs lockouts. May as well upgrade the bearings in there along with making the lockout itself as svelte as possible. No more huge lockouts!
1808 bearing on the left, stock AR60 bearing on the right

So, that’s the housings. What to do about shafts? Some of you may have been paying attention to the bearing size in those lockouts. Yeah, how about some 8mm rear shafts?!! No way, no how will anybody ever break one of these shafts. If you want an axle that will take anything that you can give it, this is it!

8mm 1808 shafts top, 4mm stock shafts on bottom.

If that does not your current rear axle feel inferior, I don’t know what would.

What’s the point of having an 8mm axle shaft when your hex pin could be the weak point? Top those 8mm shafts off with some Dlux fab 0 offset stainless hubs. These hubs house a 2.5mm hex pin vs the stock 2mm hex pin. This may not seem like much but McMaster lists a 2mm dowel pin at 700lb breaking strength and a 2.5mm to break at 1100lb. Quite a difference! I used to break 2mm hex pins all the time and have yet to break a 2.5mm pin after 3+yrs of driving.

The stainless hubs have 4-40 and 3mm threads to cover almost all types of wheels. Another great feature of the stainless hubs is that you can run them wide or flip them to run narrow. This is like owning 2 sets of hubs in one!
In this picture, you can see the hubs below and also attached to the axle shafts. I made the "standard" version and it is .200" (a touch less than 1/4") narrower than an AR60 with VP 225 hubs on it. If you flip the stainless 0 offset hubs to run wide, this axle would be the same as an AR60 with 225 hubs. Now you can be narrower than a stock AR60 and also many options to run much wider.

Top all the above off with a custom Dlux truss and Dlux shock mounts and you’re ready to hit the trails!

Truss shown in G10, carbon also available.

Sorry for the glare, I can’t seem to take pictures of bling objects.

Hey Erik, that’s great! You addressed the rear and made an ultra-strong rear axle! What about the front?! That’s where the real problem lies since everybody in the world has front axle shaft issues!

First off, calm down and quit yelling at me. Secondly, I feel the same way. Front shafts were my biggest concern and something that I wanted to address the most. So, how about an 8mm front shaft too? They are just begging for somebody to try and break them. Is it possible?

Add stainless hubs and a truss/steering mount and steering links to the front and you have an axle that is ready for some serious abuse!

My gosh! Those things are beautiful my man. I just about peed my pants I was so excited. Lol

Seriously though, terrific pieces. That centered rear could make me shelf my centered GCM.

I guessing this will fix my snapping the axle shaft in half problems?

Unless the way you are snapping them is by chucking the shaft into a lathe, clamping the non chucked end into a vice, and powering on the lathe, yes, these should fix your problem

Holy Hell those axle shafts are HUGE.

Any detail of how the front shafts go together other than just the weld? Is it a butt weld or is there some of the smaller OFNA outer inside of that 8mm shaft or what? Just curious on how that works.
