Default Need Wraith Guys Opinions

Hey guys,

I've been RCing for about a year, had a dhk buggy that was fast as hell, but a big POS. Finally gave up on keeping it running. Not worth the money. I have a Poison Spyder Wraith as well. I LOVE it. But when I go out with other people I want them to have something to play with too.

With that in mind I will be playing as well with it. Here are my thoughts, I want to hear yours on what the next rig should be...
  1. Another Wraith
    PRO-Love the car
PRO-Could maybe do a father daughter type thing with the pair at like G6 type
    PRO-Good parts support
    CON-I have one already
  2. SCX-10
PRO-I have a 4 door Rubicon for a daily that I could make it look just like
    PRO-Good parts support
PRO-Scale comps might be fun?... but would put me and the kid in different groups as G6
CON-I have a wraith and as far as performance I don't think it would be as good
  3. Yeti
PRO-Faster basher then the previous 2
    PRO-Good parts support
    PRO-Rock racing might be fun
  4. Yeti XL
    PRO-HUGE and cool looking
    PRO-Fastest of the group
PRO-Completely different then what I have
CON-Horrible parts support right now. Even parts that Axial is going to make don't exist yet. Like the 2 speed trans
CON-Not capable at all as a crawler aka, sensor-less and open diffs

What do you guys think....

Right now I'm totally unsure. If the 2 cons of the XL were fixed then I wouldn't hesitate dropping the coin to get it.

That (censored due to complaints filed with admin/mods...) chart answers not one of the questions the OP was asking, and he currently owns a Wraith Poison Spyder.

Is this new rig going to be meant to go fast or bash or crawl? This will help narrow the choices imo

Get a second wraith..... that way, people you take with you can have a similar experience as you. Its no fun for someone to run a rig that can't go where you do and it would be no fun for you if they had a much more capable rig either.... everyone needs to be on a fairly comparable playing field for all to enjoy it as a group, especially if you are bringing them out to enjoy what you do.

I like both the Wraith and SCX10, but if I were looking to buying a second one of either I would buy another Wraith. I just like it a little more than my SCX10, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with either.

I quit driving my 2.2 Wraith at our local gtg's because everyone else runs 1.9 rigs and it wasn't really fun having such a size advantage.

I bet your wife doesn't complain.

I'd build a SCX10 with smallish 2.2's... perhaps even XR Mod axles so it's a bit closer to the Wraith.

The SCX10 is just so much funner to build/customize imho.

Get another wraith that way when yours goes down you can just scavenge parts instead of waiting for the mailman. Plus I hate the way scx10 axles look haha

Luckily for me she doesn't have much of a grasp on the metric system, so when I tell her 12mm, she thinks its a substantial amount.

Who made that ridiculous chart!? TTC champion and recommending a top cad upgrade???? and saying the rc4wd AX2 is the best?

Anyways if you have a wraith and you want something to play with get an scx10. Wraith will go places a scx10 can't and a scx10 will go places a wraith can't.

It was for a list of upgrades if they want to use two wraiths

I wouldn't mind both. I appreciate all of the comments for sure, and a lot of you are going the same way that my thought was going.

I'm leaning toward a spawn, and I think if I could make it look legit with some 4door jeep body on it, I wouldn't be having this conversation.

I think another part of me still wants to go stupid big with the yeti xl, and make it into a crawler, but that would require the 2speed tranny and some jbweld in the axles. That would make a good dual purpose basher/crawler, but I havent seen anyone do the tranny or diffs on it yet :(

I am having a really hard time not laughing at this...the chart is comical on its own but this comment is golden pony boy

Oh and I have both and I would get another wraith as well. The scx10 is a great platform but I just have more fun with the wraith although the scx is easier to make look very scale the Wraith just seems more fun to use

I'll play a bit of devil's advocate here just to give the counterpoint. As between an SCX-10 and another Wraith, I'd definitely recommend doing an upgraded SCX-10. Built properly, an SCX-10 can get just about anywhere a Wraith can, though it takes more driving skill to do it. You and friends (or daughter) can enjoy them on the same run. And when it's just you, you'll have something different to choose from. As much as I love my Wraith, if I could only have one of the two, it would be my SCX-10.

The other two (Yeti and Yeti XL) are completely different animals and would be much harder to run side-by-side with your Wraith, but you know that already. Either of those would make a fun build after your SCX-10. And it sounds like you're not afraid of adding to your collection later on.

As for that chart, it's kinda like watching a really cheesy horror movie, where the villain...

just...won't...

quite...die...

even...after...

taking...4...more...bullets...

to...the...head...

and...trying...

to...get...up...

one...more...time...

But we all know how those end.
