| Partially bulletproof transmission?
So my boy was playing with his wraith and had a young cousin pounce on it and somehow stripped the bottom gear and the idler gear in his transmission. Anyhow I now need to order some transmission gears, I was reading Harleys bulletproof thread and will eventually do the full upgrade but for now I just want to get him going again. The question I have is can I just buy the robinson racing bottom gear (the one that uses wraith stub shafts) and idler gear for now to get it going, then re-use the good robinson gears to do the full bulletproof transmission later as finances permit? Thanks for the advice. |

Absolutely. You'll probably find the gears will be all you need.

^^ X2 I've been running the RRP idler and lower diff gear, plus RRP Slash 32p slipper, with a ROC 412 3100 on 3s for almost a year. Most of the time it's driven by my 5 year-old, so it doesn't get babied. The tranny housing is stock. The only tranny problem has been a blown stock bearing that didn't like my water adventures, fixed by swapping to Fast Eddy sealed bearings.

I believe the extended outputs are to run an ax10 style transmission on a Wraith skid plate.

he has 6mm outputs made specifically for the wraith. I had him build me a complete wraith bomb proof tranny last week for the king of the hammers recon g6. I talked to him for about 2 hours about all my different options and then just ended up going with his tried and true setup. plus with the lifetime guarantee you can't beat the price.

You can get the axial metal gear set. I changed to a standard Axial trans. You can drill out the motor plate that allows you to put bolts through the plate which is stronger. The gears are the same in the trans. I added a third bearing to the up of my trans. If you want to see the pictures its on my wraith build. With your son driving I would keep the slipper. Here is a cool way to adjust your slipper. Axial Wraith slipper clutch adjustment |
