Default Transmission Plate Mod

I have had issues with the grub screws for the lower links. If I thread lock them I strip them removing them. I also stripped one in the plastic plate due to debris getting in the head. Leave them just tight and they back off and I drop a link on the trail.... I know they should not need to be moved too often but the Rod ends will be replaced at some point. (plus I bought cheap links which had to be replaced ).

The actual thread of the grub screw is the same as decent size bolt as in the first picture. So I have drilled out the holes to allow me a decent bolt with a good size head which can be maintained easier. I could have done with a slightly shorter bolt as you can see they don't sit flush. But they are tight and substantial and hopefully this is a permanent fix.... Time will tell. 😆 Just thought I'd share...Maybe there's was a better solution.

I was planning on doing something similar with mine next time I have skid off, don't like the small head in the set screws.

The issue with the stock skid was that I stripped the link screws trying to get the links out. So that ended up useless. Dirt got down the holes and into the head of the screw and before I realized the head stripped. I don't see much difference between them TBH. They both slide off rocks but I tend to drive as best as I can and not get high centered too often.

I also figure it stiffens the Chassis which we all like. Less chance of the plastic tranny casing twisting and affecting mesh. I'm sure that was the reason I stripped the idle gear the first time round.
